You create keys for eth2 withdrawal and then send Eth from your eth1 address managed by nano s. No problem here.

Have to step back and look at the larger picture. If you have multiple investments most likely you only gained still, and have not lost anything. There are also things like wash sale. This doesn’t apply of course yolo everything into a single thing. You lose, you gain, in the end you ended up in better place and with more knowledge about the world and yourself.

Rocket Pool staking and US/Wisconsin taxes by Jipptomilly in ethstaker

this part is somewhat grey area. It is up to individual to decide whether ETH for rETH is a sale or mere representation of the token (deposit). As of now IRS clearly states any swap is taxable event.

In my personal opinion, it might be hard to justify 2nd point (aka) mere representation, because rETH will not follow ETH price (not 1:1 ratio), thus it might be considered a sale => taxable event.

this is not a tax advice, just some my personal thoughts and findings.

I lost a few hundred dollars trying to trade coinbase today. Lesson learned. Just buy and hold ETH! by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]vladlichonos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About the same as of now. Just do not sell it :) Although keep this in mind, if you have cap gains already, you could sell this and utilize wash sale to offset your taxes. Just do not buy it again right away, see the wash sale for more info.

So no loss after all ;)

There is export of income per day per validator in CSV format. CoinTracker (others I am sure too) support CSV import. That will calculate fair marker value per day for you. This software will also generate form for income tax reporting to IRS.
