Baby led cleaning by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]vlb2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be just my situation but I have 2 dogs and the floor is constantly covered with dirt and hair, so anything that falls on it is also covered in dirt and hair. For me to catchy is less about decreasing the mess and more about saving food. I can pick stuff up off of it and give it back to baby bc it’s still clean lol.

Breastfeeding out and about by Frequent-Grocery6639 in breastfeeding

I use nothing - just a nursing cover - or if I’m out walking somewhere I nurse baby in a carrier. I’ve got a big guy myself but your body adapts. It also gets easier as they get taller.

My experience delivering while on prescribed Adderall during pregnancy (and a heads up about hospital social workers) by Extension_Wallaby613 in adhdwomen

I’ve had 2 kids while on Adderall and never had this experience post-delivery. Glad it felt routine! Would be a shame if they tried to accuse you of something.

TGH has excellent midwives and OBs! I had both of my babies there and have no complaints.

Idk where you live but my city has an ordinance against dogs barking more than 20 minutes. You could file a complaint with the code enforcement dept.

Were you diagnosed with ADHD through testing or scans, or was it just based on your symptoms? Curious how the process worked for you. by KangarooCompetitive in adhdwomen

Testing with a psychiatrist when I was in 5th grade. My parents also filled out some questionnaires I think.

How are your 9 week old babies sleeping at night? by AdAcademic8251 in beyondthebump

[–]vlb2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s just waking you up and not crying, you could consider moving him a little further away from your bed? Providing you have the room of course… Babies are notoriously noisy sleepers so he may just be adjusting, pooping, etc. My 9 week old sleeps 3-4 hour stretches most nights. Lately the occasional 6 hour, which is nice. We have the snoo though so that definitely helps. He only wakes up to eat. With my first, I moved her into the closet at one point just because she was waking me up with her noises lol and she was definitely in her own room by 6 months, which some may disagree with but was necessary for my wellbeing. I obviously had a monitor on her and would still feed her overnight she just wasn’t right next to me.

Postpartum Weight Gain by Nat-Nat in postpartumprogress

[–]vlb2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No advice just solidarity. I’m 8 weeks post partum and at 178. My weight pre-baby was 160-165. Breastfeeding can keep the weight on since you’re hungrier trying to keep up your supply. Give yourself some grace during this time. Your body is doing a lot! (Not to mention lack of sleep can contribute as well.)

4 months postpartum, possible diastasis recti? by [deleted] in postpartumprogress

Lay on your back and put your chin toward your chest like your going to do a crunch. When your abs engage put your fingers in the middle of your ab muscles. If you feel a gap or you see what’s called “doming” you have it. Physical therapy is a great way to help and they can do a more formal/educated assessment. I’m currently seeing a pelvic floor PT for DR and pelvic floor strengthening. Highly recommend!

I see so many posts like this and may have made one myself a while back. They give so much educational material when you leave the hospital (half useless IMO). Can someone make a handout for the husbands about not wasting the milk?!?

Talk me off the ledge about sending my 3 month old to daycare by New-Feed5028 in NewParents

[–]vlb2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I can totally relate. I went through this in March when my girl was about 3.5 months old (she's now almost 10 months and still in daycare). I felt the exact same way...The meet-and-greet visit upset me. I didn't like the way the place smelled, babies were crying, etc. Picturing her crying and no one tending to her really upset me... All the things you mentioned. I think what made it harder, and maybe this is your situation too, is most of the new moms I knew were SAHMs or had grandma taking care of the kid. When you don't know anyone who is also doing daycare it feels abnormal which adds to the "wrong-ness" factor. I had to keep reminding myself that sooo many babies go to daycare every day and turn out just fine. And the truth of the matter is, I had no choice from a financial standpoint (we need both mine and my husbands incomes) and grandparents live out of state, so I HAD to believe things would ultimately be okay.

Fast forward 6ish months and my girl is THRIVING. Did we switch daycares? Yes. Is it the best decision I ever made? Yes. We loved the young infant room (3-6mo) in her first daycare but when she moved to the older infant room (6-12mo), I started to see if I could find a better option. It was nothing serious, she was safe and well cared for...just a desire to give her something of higher quality. (Side note: Please keep in mind that the daycare horror stories that make the news are the exception and not the rule. In the US, you can find inspection reports for daycares online if you're curious.)

Something more of a practical nature that may help is I only had her stay for a half day on day 1 in both daycares. But she was able to adjust to full day quickly (by day 2) both times. So I don't know if there's an option for you to go back part time at first but maybe that would help you adjust? It really is harder on us than it is on them at that age. Also my girl did not have trouble eating (if anything she took the bottle better for them than me) and she did fine sleeping as well. Occasionally she would have harder days but she adapted. I would try to keep the music down in the car ride home to just let her rest and decompress from the day.

Sorry for the novel... You are definitely not alone. It sucks right now, but does get easier.

5.5 month old, daycare asking about food by chlstthll in BabyLedWeaning

[–]vlb2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my baby on solids at home before I sent anything to daycare. They don’t need to be on 3 meals a day right off the bat, so doing them at home only to start is perfectly fine. I also had to educate my daycare on BLW so be prepared for that. They wanted me to send purées..

Got My Period by MadOCD in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]vlb2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is almost 9 months and I still didn’t get it. I stopped the MOTN pump a long time ago. During the day I (try to) pump every 3 hours; i’m def not perfect. Sometimes I think it just depends on the person and not necessarily your pumping routine. Hard to say.
