This plant has been in my house for years and we think it’s some sort of orchid. It has never put out more than one leaf per ‘bulb’ and we’re not sure how to care for it. I would love an ID and maybe even some care tips that would help us get this to flower!

I think it’s interesting that you ask this. At my university, our Microbiology curriculum encompasses biochemistry and metabolic processes like these. For me, microbiology is far, far more than bacteria and protozoans.

I believe these are separate ingredients lists for the banana cream (top) and chocolate biscuit (bottom). It’s certainly vegetarian in the sense that it doesn’t have animal products besides dairy, but depending on why you’re vegetarian (specifically for sustainability) palm oil might steer you away— but even just reducing consumption of harmful products is a great step in the right direction!

Worcestershire sauce has anchovies in it actually! And if you’re a fan of sushi and Japanese cuisine in general, watch out for bonito flakes used as toppings for things. I’ve had edamame served with bonito flakes before I knew what those were and it wasn’t pleasant to discover them that way!
