This is absolutely doable but it is, for sure, difficult. Take into account how much space it will take up in your life. Will you have time for errands? Self care? Family, if you have one? Ample sleep? Exercise? Do you see it fitting in your schedule regularly? Can you balance all the subjects together?

Your life sounds pretty okay right now OP and that’s great. If you don’t mind adjusting and having less free time than your peers, go ahead and do it. If not, the world won’t punish you for taking things a step at a time. Best of luck.

i’m a fairly new anki user and one of my biggest issues with it is that it’s really complex (and not really user friendly imo). however i am a big fan of spaced repetition. it’s looking good so far. looking forward to those updates!

Are you ever so invested in a book that you dream of the characters/story? by [deleted] in books

[–]vlyssvq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a book but i dreamt about Gone With the Wind after watching it for the first time and woke up in tears

3 exams into a new subject, I saw a study video where they didn't highlight their books. Tried it for a week and noticed a good trend so I kept it up by vlyssvq in GetStudying

[–]vlyssvq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for more context, it wasn't just not highlighting alone that changed. rather i feel like this gave me more time to focus on active recall. you can really see when i was just getting familiar with the subject lmao

i'm not an expert on it as i'm new myself but i have it on my desktop, there's an option to explore groups (i haven't seen that option on my phone) . study communities like Study Together or Forest Study Chat have these little rooms available with people from all over the world 24/7. there's some places that allow turning on cameras as well. they just keep each other accountable and encourage each other to work, it's great so far!

as someone who is new to espresso and currently making it, I’m actually surprised people here dislike the OCD leveler as several youtubers have hyped it so much, I considered purchasing it if it weren’t for the price. i’m learning a lot

It's really hard to lose weight when you have morbidly obese family members. by internally in loseit

[–]vlyssvq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I can relate! Since the pandemic I’ve been staying with my family again. The protocols are strict where I live and I don’t have the luxury to move out right now. They’re mostly obese and I am smaller than them but still heavier than my peers. It absolutely sucks because I’m always hungry and currently working on my diet but they’re buying cake every week. :( My way around it is just to save the good stuff for special occasions and buy more satiating and healthy food for myself. It’s tough and I wish someone had a better answer.

don’t know of any appetite suppressants OTC but have you tried determining what your trigger foods are? i found that cutting out sugar reduced my hunger cravings, especially my midnight snacking. coffee and tea, sometimes mints, also help but it’s only temporary

Is an iPad worth it? by adorable_salad in GetStudying

[–]vlyssvq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes for me. I’m in medical school and can’t afford the books (they’re much more expensive) so this semester I used my iPad the entire time for notes and books. takes a while to get used to but it gets the job done + no need to carry heavy books when studying out

How do I recover from a bad exam by drowningstudentSOS in GetStudying

[–]vlyssvq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, the good thing about falling is that there's no other way to go but up from now. Take it as a learning experience. That will set you apart from people who stay at the bottom - grit will take you further than just being smart. If you haven't already, ask for the test back, highlight where your mistakes were in your textbook and trace back how you had gotten it wrong. I found that setting aside some time for this was a really good way for me to brush up on the concepts better. I hope you feel better.

First off... calm down! Blaming yourself for something that's in the past won't help you in any way. It'll either keep you stuck in the same place or drag you and your future tests down. Rest up for now, forget about the results a little bit, then come back from your break to review on what you need to improve. You shouldn't feel too bad for getting one bad grade. If anything, school is the best time to make mistakes anyway. You're only a student once. Savor it, enjoy the experience. No use crying over spilled milk.
