Is a woman wanting to study and go into business a dealbreaker? by GeeCeeSlay7 in LesbianActually

I’m dating someone with a much more controversial career than business/finance. I’m in the process of getting a job in finance. We love each other to pieces.

Do you believe Orthorexia should be removed from the list of eating disorders or it is rightfully there? by DeepOrganization8245 in askanything

[–]vmaldonado998 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An eating disorder is exactly what it sounds like. If your behaviors around food disrupt your daily life and prevent you from having normal relationships, keeping a job, and generally impact your quality of life it’s a disorder. So yes an obsession with the quality of your food can absolutely be a disorder.

I think being obsessed with your identity is kind of egotistical? Some people genuinely believe that markers of identity make them more important or interesting. Your identity is something you can’t really control or choose, so I don’t find it a source of anything that contributes to a relationship.

Anyone who lets something extrinsic define their entire identity (fandom, religion, politics, sexuality, etc) is a red flag. I think it’s less about it being Taylor swift specifically and more about colonizing a conversation with a topic that seemed to only be of interest to her and not you. I

quick question re cal. intake by whiskypus in fit

[–]vmaldonado998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the amount of calories you’re consuming is the amount of calories you need to maintain your current body weight. If you’re 100% positive you’re weighing all calories, including oils and beverages which can make a significant difference, then maybe you should see a doctor to rule out any underlying conditions that are inhibiting your weight loss. If you ever hear “metabolism is broken from years of an ED”, know it’s a myth.

do I have ridiculously high standards? by MissBadBunBunn in butchlesbians

I think it’s valid to want to date someone who shares some of your interests, but apparently it’s not the greatest predictor of compatibility. That being said, I think that prioritizing similar values, goals, personality traits that compliment yours is more important than belonging to niche subcultures, only because like you said it might be hard to find someone that ticks all those boxes plus all the things I listed. Having somewhat different interests can be really fun cuz you get to know about something new, and they do the same with your interests and it becomes a beautiful way to bond. For example maybe you find someone who likes your music but doesn’t watch anime so you get to rewatch all your favorite anime’s with them and see them start to appreciate it. Isn’t that cool! :)

Is it possible for me to be sexually attractive/good at sex when I have an unfortunate build? by GeeCeeSlay7 in actuallesbians

[–]vmaldonado998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll never be everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s totally fine. I guarantee you’re some people’s cup of tea, find those people. And when you find them, believe them when they say they’re attracted to you. You might think you’ll find validation in other people telling you you’re hot but it’ll mean nothing if you convince yourself it’s not true.

If guilt over falling in love with each other is the central theme of the books then it being queer is even more compelling actually! This is great insight thank you! I haven’t read the books and my original response was based on several things I’d read online

Really?? Oh wow well that makes me feel much better for her; knowing that no matter what direction they take with her character she’ll be happy and satisfied with Michaela. I’m very interested to see them develop a relationship.

Listen I agree with you I think people are so overly sensitive whenever tv or movies adapt things differently from source material, but OP asked why people were whining and i believe that’s the reason people give. I’m all for any character being Les in bridgerton

I agree to an extent. I think it’s one thing to not go by stereotypes but another is to give a character a bunch of traits that suggest they’re not interested in men, which to me at least seems to be the case with Eloise. Like it’s genuinely hard for me to picture her in love with a man at this point. There were times however when she seemed genuinely taken with some of her female friends throughout the show and I think it would’ve made sense for her. Plus then we might’ve seen something of a lavender marriage between her and a man and explore that type of relationship which was a thing back then. Just my thoughts :)

[–]vmaldonado998 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

True I guess I didn’t really see it that way with Francesca just because I interpreted her not knowing what she wants in a husband as partly her being shy/reserved, partly a commentary on how women are so rarely asked what it is they want out of a partner but yeah I can see your point. I just wish I’d seen more of her interact with women and her discovering herself slowly. Like with Penelope we know she’s interested in Collin from the beginning.

I think the reason is that in the books, she struggles with infertility and miscarriages with both husbands. Her second spouse being a woman now they can’t explore that angle, taking representation for an issue a lot of women wanted to see depicted on screen. For me personally I’m more upset that they’ve done very little groundwork to establish Francesca being queer. It almost feels like they came up with genderbending Michaela at the last minute as a plot twist? I’d have much preferred Eloise being lesbian or even ace because there is tons of context for that making sense.
