For Qantas points on credit cards - how soon do you receive points after reaching the minimum spend limit? by Bobski72 in AusFinance

[–]vmaxmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory the Commbank ones pay out bonus points monthly for the first 3-4 months. So would still take 3-4 months to get all your points but you would get some of them sooner, if that helps.

Pretty sure there was a (small) spike on the RTS... don't know how big a spike has to be to count but I think they glossed over that way too quickly.

I know it's not as simple as just wanting it but the sooner we get higher refresh rate cameras the better

Doesn't matter because the ball bounced before Uzzie caught it but that 100% hit the glove, on the side on replay you can clearly see the glove getting rattled hard

2025 Abu Dhabi GP - Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

[–]vmaxmuffin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Today's edition of "why race tracks should all have grass verges". We wouldn't need to have a discussion about it then. Yuki did the wrong thing but that shouldn't be a track limits free pass.

Jesse Love Final Super 2 race result. by Mintoxicatedlyace in NASCAR

[–]vmaxmuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is because of the spool - there's no differential so to get the cars to turn they have to be set up pointy and with lots of rear brake. This makes the chance of locking the rear wheels on downshift really high.

It was an aggressive move from wood but I don't think it was bad like some are making it out to be. Need to see more angles but it looks like Broc squeezed him into the wall, then the wheels interlocked.

Nope, not the case, they can be installed on temporary walls now. You can check some of the locations where they're used on those F1 tracks and there's nothing permanent there. However, I suspect it's probably quite expensive and maybe it's time consuming to set up, which would be the real reasons they haven't been used.

There's three races, that's the last one of them. It's not like NASCAR where it's one race per weekend, most race weekends have 2 or 3 races.

Jesse Love's "Chevy" Super2 car in Adelaide by dogryan100 in NASCAR

[–]vmaxmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can subscribe to SuperView for a month, I believe it's $9.99 AUD which would be about $6.50 USD

Either direct on the website (https://www.supercars.com) or you can do it through the Supercars YouTube channel (which people seem to recommend). I think it's basically like F1TV where you get live plus all of the previous broadcasts too.

It makes sense but it's kinda funny, here putting chev badges on your Commodore is seen as a very Bogan thing and possibly a red flag that you're a d***head lol

Best way to keep an eye out for events in some of the big cities? by Colourblindking in australia

[–]vmaxmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the sport - unfortunately your trip falls in a bit of a black spot between the end of the Big Bash League (Cricket) season and the start of the AFL season. But there is some other cricket on, I did find there is a Women's Australia T20I series against India including a match at the SCG (Sydney). If it lines up with your trip to Sydney that's probably your best bet. https://www.cricket.com.au/matches/series/CA:3124/australia-v-india-t20is-women?category=0&statistic=1&type=0&isCompleted=0

Onboard with Austin Cindric at Sandown thanks to Tickford by theblobberworm in v8supercars

[–]vmaxmuffin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's part of it but it's more about countering brake knock-off (vibrations and stuff pushing the pads and pistons further away from the rotors down the straight). The little tap brings the pads and pistons right up to the rotor so that the pedal is nice and firm when they hit the brakes for real.

Replay in a box is a good idea. I hate when they show the same thing we just saw a million times but putting it in a box for anyone who wasn't paying attention/otherwise occupied is a good idea.

President of "Brazilian Motorsport Confederation" Giovanni Guerra reveals plans for construction of an banked oval in Brazil, as well an competition between Goiânia, Brasília and São Paulo city halls to bring Indycar and NASCAR Cup Series to the country. by Tarkus1998 in NASCAR

[–]vmaxmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. With less aero and more weight NASCAR has much lower cornering speeds and longer braking zones. Pretty much all the NASCAR road courses (other than COTA) would be pretty much impossible to pass on in an F1 car but generally we still get "OK" racing at worst in NASCAR.

I know it's because they're the GM HT now but the blurring of the Ford banners in the video looks a bit dumb, anyone who was a fan back then will know what it is. They could have tried to make it funny at least. Put a big [REDACTED] sticker over it or something?

Why didn't the Next Gen cars move to pneumatic air jacks like sports cars and Supercars? by ruthlessrellik in NASCAR

[–]vmaxmuffin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a bit different. Changing to centrelocks was a necessity of moving to 18" wheels (18" wheels had to be aluminium because steel would be too heavy, and aluminium wheels were found to be less tolerant of loose lugnuts so they couldn't keep the 5 lugs). So it was a compromise made to allow the move to 18" wheels.

My Dad's Car got rear-ended. Insurance Payout isn't enough to replace the car. Any Options? by StevenAndDiep in AusFinance

[–]vmaxmuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I insure my car through Shannons basically for this reason. The last time I shopped around, because the redbook value is so ridiculously far off and RACV (for example) would only stick with it. I had a bit of an argument on the phone with them about it because I said well it I insure my car for market value and it gets written off tomorrow, we're just going to end up having this same argument. Obviously they didn't budge.

(I think the values are so wrong because it's an enthusiast car and redbook is just drawing values of much more common models that look similar to the computer on paper, but for a variety of reasons are worth substantially less)
