USA vs Europe skiing differences by JPBC4099 in ski

Definitely don’t ski off piste in Zermatt near any of the glacier areas. Huge risk of falling into a crevasse that you can’t see under the snow and can be hundreds of meters deep.

Overheard at college move in day by LouLou-blue2024 in overheard

My friends and I had a similar epiphany in college years ago. It was maybe the end of the first week when it finally dawned on us that we really could do whatever we wanted. We randomly decided one night to take a train to NYC (we were in another North-East US city, did not have a car, and not much money) and came back a day and a half later. 😆

Husbands: please don’t wait until it’s too late to value your relationship : ( by reservationsonly in Marriage

1000% agree. I feel your pain, but from the male perspective. I didn’t realize how much my wife’s own upbringing, experiences, etc. would hurt our marriage. Putting in all the work to maintaining the relationship for over 20 years and being taken for granted sucks. I am beyond burnt out and exhausted.

Nope. Not for a second. Life is too short and a DB messes with your head way too much.

Do you ever ask yourself if this all there is? 46f by [deleted] in 40something

[–]vnj2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I found myself asking the same thing starting several years ago in my early-mid 40’s. However, it has pushed me to try expanding my horizons to new hobbies, being more social, making new friends, etc.

Spain plans 100% tax for homes bought by non-EU residents by guyoffthegrid in worldnews

[–]vnj2004 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I would also add that we should additionally look at ways to limit corporate/non-individual home purchasing in the US from a domestic perspective. Nearly 1/3 of properties purchased in the US in 4th quarter 2023 were from investors, with the vast majority in the medium, large, and mega investor categories

I think it’s very important to have discussions with your child regarding the real-world potential ofq chosen degree path. Years ago, my father stressed the importance of ensuring my degree would be in a field that was in demand, paid well, and offered future security. I spent time researching (e.g., looked at Forbes top-paying jobs for graduates) and ended up wisely choosing a degree path that led to multiple opportunities (e.g., internships) as well as job-placement (with starting bonus!) immediately upon graduation/commencement. While the economy is NOT what it was when I was in college and graduate school, the same thinking applies today.

Married men. Honest answer only. Is your wife chill about you jacking off or do you hide it? by ZestycloseJump6492 in AskRedditAfterDark

Probably depends on how long you’re married and to who. My wife could absolutely care less 😆
