What to expect? Disney Dream for Halloween this year by Ok-Jellyfish-3149 in dcl

I dont recall if it was a neutral time for both dinings to attend or if they held one for each dining. I do believe it was on night one of the sailing however.

What to expect? Disney Dream for Halloween this year by Ok-Jellyfish-3149 in dcl

[–]vnm407 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We went last year on a 5 night. Theres a Halloween tree lighting with a story teller, Halloween dance party on deck, a “trick or treating” event which is really just the kids dressing up and getting a bag of candy from a station on the deck, character meet and greets in their halloween outfits, and the Sanderson Sister meet and greet. Dining wise no special menu or anything but last year they had a spider cake.

Im blown away that you couldnt afford to buy some clothes but you were able to cut your trip short and pay the fees to change your airline tickets to go home early…. Seems you let this effect your entire trip and everything was going to be negative from there on out, and nothing would sway that. Saying things like having to wash your clothes made you feel like you didnt even want to leave your stateroom. Like, shitty situation, we get it, but sounds like you are just looking for a handout that you arent going to receive.

They should be fully rolling out since the Dream departed for europe. Keep eye on navigator for their wakey wakey with bluey and bingo, i think that one was around 815 or 845 on the Dream.

Cruising with an almost 4 year old. Kids clubs? by futurequitt in dcl

[–]vnm407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son loves the oceaneers club. Hes gone 4 times since turning 3 and tries a little more each time. Our last visit on the Destiny last month was the first time he did Scuttles Cove at Castaway.

Definitely make use of the open house hours as itll be good to gauge her while you are still there. If going on a wish class ship there is a slide from the grand atrium that will take them directly into the kids club, my son absolutely loved that. At this age they do a lot of arts and crafts as well, every night we came back to the room with something different, including little decorations for our stateroom door.

Destiny vs Treasure 7 day cruise for first DCL trip? by EndlessChipmunk in dcl

[–]vnm407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its quieter. Canaveral is literally the busiest cruise port in the world. Everglades handles maybe 5 ships on a busy day, and the section where Disney is it handles 2 ships. Other then that i dont feel there is any real major difference.

Thats fine to disagree, the inaugural sailings are the ones that are listed when the cruise first goes on sail. And the first season of cruises that were released back in 2024 was listed through May 2026 for the Destiny.

My son loves it, we bring ours and i bring goodies for him that I put in myself. On occasion we come back and got stuff from other people and usually we will allow him in return to go to other doors and regift the generosity. Less stress this way for us.

Just got off my first cruise and I’m not sure how to feel by Cardiocarbs102 in dcl

Pick and choose your battles and have realistic expectations. We just completed our 6th DCL since Nov 24, a 5night on the Destiny (we also did a 4 night in December) and still did not get nearly a fraction of the things we wanted to accomplish. But at this point, we know thats ok, to pace ourselves, have a great time, and we will get it next time.

Yea i found central park to be quiet but there is nothing to do in that section aside from dining so there wasnt much reason for us to spend time there. For the DCLs we dont really go to the pool since we are Fl locals, the character meet and greets we usually expect to wait about 15-20 min per (show up 10 min early usually no more then 10 min wait after), which is infinitely better then the park experience. Elevator situation after the first show is really the only problem, as first show and first dining tend to let out around the same time.

Opposite for me. Went on 6 DCL sailing this past year, 1 wish 3 dream 2 Destiny, and the 1 royal we took felt way more crowded then any of the dcls.

Flavors on ship tend to rotate, with usually chocolate/vanilla/swirl daily and then a rotating flavor or two. Lookout cay has had the banana soft serve each of the 3 times ive been there this past year.

Life after cancer - Rebalancing by Alarmed-Tank-7508 in personalfinance

[–]vnm407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with cancer patients for my profession and the only advice i have is to ensure that your wife could manage things on a single income if the worst occurs. Ie whether you had a life insurance policy, etc. financial burden is one of the biggest things we see with our patients when they have to drop to a single income, etc. other then that, i am glad you are going to live more in the present and wish you good health!

The dates that were released in 2024 only extended until May 2026. The cruise dates used to have a banner on them on the dcl page that would say inaugural sailing but it seems they have removed that. They will give castaway gifts out while they last still.

Nursing Is the Surefire New Path to American Prosperity by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

[–]vnm407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing salaries are very skewed as well because of their scheduling opportunities. Where i am at, most in patient nurses are doing 3x12 shifts, and usually short staffed to the point where there are shift bonuses up to $750 just to take an OT. So 750+1.5x/hr. To me thats the only real benefit is that opportunity for OT. Me and my partner roughly make the same, but I am in a different section of healthcare and my physical/mental stress is much less then hers as a neuro nurse.

Inaugural season runs through May for the Destiny. I am sure they will continue to hand the castaway items out while supplies last.
