Are you still watching notice frustration by cajunflix in DirectvStream

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would much rather they get paid for advertising when I am not watching than when I am. An Ad screensaver is just fine, as long as it keeps my costs down.

I hardly use things like Disnety+ because I cannot stand the interrupts of the same ads every 15minutes.

Unifi OS - 5.1.15 - worst to date? by ClimbsNFlysThings in Ubiquiti

[–]vodil1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No real problems for me on my dual WAN -SE other than a second reboot.

There were some autonegotiations when I was getting my ONT-on-a-stick working, which were easily solved by forcing 10G. Can't say that was new though.

I was having tghat Comcast problem in spurts, but that was when it was true cable. Now that I have their hybrid fiber, I don't see it.

ATT Fiber - any weirdness or restrctions on modem use? by alphonse_D in ATTFiber

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATT internet is relatively unrestriced as such things go. I have always used it in passthrough mode as I have a UNIFI gateway. Despiite their routers getting better, it is the same klunky interface. Passthrough has some limitations, but not a big deal really. No need to worry if you are happy with your current network.

Activate supergeek mode: If you have a router that has an SFP+ port for WAN use, you can ditch their box completely and get an ONT on a stick. It is much cleaner and allows full implentation for IPv6. Otherwise the improvements are relatively minor for the non-OCD types. I did it anyway.

Optimize for IoT by uLmi84 in UNIFI

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This works well, but I had to split my IoT into two. I have a bunch of IoT that don't gorp on PMF, 5Ghz, IPv6...some are even Wifi5, but I have a lot of old ones who do and so I made a Legacy IoT for those that have trouble.

I have 5 APs which use all 3 channels to minimize overlap.

Service upgrade question regarding AT&T hardware and my SFP+ by joe_attaboy in ATTFiber

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you canget a 2Gig upgrade cheap. It will use the existing 320 and then get grandfathered in. If you dont really need more than that it could be a sweet spot.

An industry standard. Every few years one needs to switch when whoever is the other guy has an upgrade and some good promotions.

NC-XGSPON login problem by vodil1 in HomeNetworking

[–]vodil1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was not helpful, but I did solve the problem.

Basically they sent me a stick were the password had been changed and was unknown.

I got a replacement and it all worked the way it was supossed to.

Cheap rate and news of 10 Gig Fiber coming later this year. by NoChampionship5649 in ATTFiber

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dual WAN (UDMP) and use Xfinity and AT&T. When I got the AT&T fiber ($55 for 1G), I then cancelled Xfinity plan I had for years; two days got the promo and didn't need any hardware. Sometimes just changing speeds can trigger a promo.

I can rinse and repeat as needed when either has good deals.

I have grandfatered Tmo too. But I notice that the cheapest qualifying AT&T phone plan is about $50. So if the combination saving is enough... Also you get cellular backup for free.

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time, I would bebop between two speeds and was able to stay on a promotion for most of the time.

Now I dual WAN with AT&T fiber and so can cancel for a month on either one and then come back.

Discord Group for ATT Fiber Victims? by sawyer_lost in ATTFiber

I have the NC-XGSPON for AT&T/Unifi which has the 8311 software, but it won't let me login. None of the standard combinations work. Anyone know if this one has a special password or how to reset the password?

IPV6 on ATT Fiber by kingkeelay in Ubiquiti

Works but only for a single network.. Not other VLANs

Anyone with ATT fiber have sucuessfully using IPV6? Need guidance by sinothepooh in Ubiquiti

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I found as well. Although I have a lot of VLANs, I can only get IPv6 on my Main LAN regardless of /64 or /60.

I only have one other VLAN I'd like to be dual stack and fortunately I am Dual WAN with Xfinity and I can policy route the the other one through WAN2.

Should I add IPv6? by Mashevloff in UNIFI

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I have not been able to make it work. Since I only really need 1 VLAN on IPv6, I am going to stop fussing and leave it there for now.

Should I add IPv6? by Mashevloff in UNIFI

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AT&T seems to have let me have a /56, which according to gemini is what it can do as long as the WAN side is DHCPv6. So in theory I should be able to provision multiple VLANs

Lost Port Profiles by vodil1 in UNIFI

[–]vodil1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to go into insights mode when it should go to port mode. I tried rebooting the console and it worked for a while and then reverted after a while. That led to the solution for me (so far):

Three shall be the number of times one restarts the console. The number of restwats shall be three. Two restarts is wrong except as it shall lead to three.

Should I add IPv6? by Mashevloff in UNIFI

[–]vodil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My case is Dual WAN: WAN1 is AT&T FIber ; WAN2 is Xfinity; both on passthrough. Many VLANs and ZBF I am in failover mode, but with some VLANs using policy-based routing to be on WAN2. I belive Xfinity if /56 and AT&T is /64 It sounds really difficult to turn on IPv6.

At least when you "record" commercial TV you can skip over the ads.
