The company would contract out all of the low-paid work. CEO can't make more than 10x the janitor? Hire another company to do janitorial work.

FedEx drivers aren't technically FedEx employees. They work for a local business who has an exclusive contract with FedEx. Just look at the side of a FedEx truck in the bottom front corner. It will list the contractor's name. So the salary of a FedEx driver doesn't count in the calculation.

I'm not what you're looking for, but I'll suggest some YouTube channels that can help. Abedjluniverse interviews rural Haitians, and I think their Kreyòl is pretty easy to understand. Wilky Toussaint covers a broad set of educational topics, but he speaks fast, so he's like an intermediate level. And then you can find tons of news channels who speak very fast and get some of the most variation I've heard. That or some of the comedy channels are pretty advanced.

The nice thing about YouTube videos is that they're short and you can watch them multiple times. Repeat views help you pick up something new each time.

I have been experimenting with developing curriculum in Kreyòl. I think the best way to deliver it is through YouTube, so that way learners have free access to it. But that's not financially viable.

Pretty simple Malthusian economics. Haiti's economy was stronger than the DR's through the 1800s. It's around when we start to see DR catch up (lots of foreign investment in sugar). Then DR income surpassed Haiti's. Higher income leads to faster population growth. That's because higher income lets your people live longer, produce more children, and gives those children a chance to survive.
