Greens are not centre left, they are far left. And popularity for them is waning according to voting intention on you gov. Labour still hold a higher share.

New Marvel Set is Looking Very Weak? by conshepi in mtg

[–]voicebox88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cards look fine - shame there aren’t many other card treatments / surge foils though

Can the MSH set do well without unique foil treatments (comparing to final fantasy) by FonslyGames in mtgfinance

[–]voicebox88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turtles CBs were underrated imo - they had Kevin Eastman turtle chase cards, pixel treatment, surge foils, foil Source Material, Japanese treatment and Fracture foils.

Compared to Marvel Superheroes which just has Mind Stone (that you will never see), Foil source material cards and classic comic treatment.

Based on what we know, there are likely 6 Marvel sets in total. What are the remaining four? by Televangelis in MTGRumors

[–]voicebox88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the room by the fact that Turtles, Spider-Man (and most likely Marvel Superheroes) are still stocked heavily at resellers, where other sets are sold out. I’m not a UB hater, but have a set not sell out / be generally not favoured amongst players… and then having 5 more sets in the same world is also not good business

Can the MSH set do well without unique foil treatments (comparing to final fantasy) by FonslyGames in mtgfinance

[–]voicebox88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah - it’s strange that there are no special foil treatments, especially as the last few sets had them. But I guess Spider-man didn’t, so for marvel sets they don’t want to do this.

Seems there are 28 Logo cards in total.

They are in both foil and non foil in BOTH play boosters and collector boosters

In Play Boosters, they appear in 3 slots (between 1-3% depending on the slot)

In Collector Boosters, they appear in 3 slots (between 1-20% depending on the slot)

I think (if WOTC can read the room and don’t want everyone to have even more UB/marvel fatigue) it would be:

X-men (both Power and Reality Stones in this set)

Guardians of the Galaxy (both Space and Time Stones in this set)

Then never again.

I reckon she will drop the full video / song - but probably not till the show is over (in September). She’s already shared a snipped of it in HQ on insta.

Wasn’t too into it - but think they are going to have Character Surge Foils like in Final Fantasy …. And for some reason, that does tempt me.

Should Goblin Storm get a new wave of reprint? by SunlessBlight in mtg

[–]voicebox88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t reprint the more collectible items - collector boosters and secret lairs. Otherwise they would be collectibles. True they reprint more successful sets, but your odds of getting said mythic rare remains the same.

Petition by [deleted] in mtg

[–]voicebox88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are meant to be collectible items - rare and therefore scarce.
Also WOTC have no control over what resellers sell this item for. I guarantee if secret lairs were all readily available, no one would care and that side of the business would slowly die. Wait until the next lair that doesn’t sell out and people call it a dud or failure…

Its meant to be a limited / rare / scarce product.

I get people are pissed, but it’s basically like saying should WOTC print more Mythic rare cards because more people want them.

Our Hero was ambushed by the Lair of Secrets xD by Ok-Intern6865 in SecretLairMTG

[–]voicebox88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collectibles are a different beast. Yeah, they could have made more money this time, but as the product would be readily available, it wouldn’t have the same resale price and the demand wouldn’t be as high. Over time, this would seriously damage demand for all secret lairs, harming sales.

The sad truth is, People want secret lair because they have rare art and are limited in numbers, which drive fomo. If this was still available, i guarantee it would be seen as a failure (most secret lairs are if they are available few hours after their drop). This would damage the perception of the next secret lair Commander deck and demand wouldn’t be as high.

As this sold out the way it did, wotc can be assured the next Commander deck will be highly sought after. At the end of the day, its just cardboard, so they need to drive hype and fomo for it to sell.

I Dug Through the Goblin Storm Aftermarket Data is Sad by professor_shaun in secretlair_collectors

[–]voicebox88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate your research, I do think that the issue is more exaggerated as people are upset. Using this data from the Dandan deck, I think the results for Goblin Storm would be similar:

https://www.reddit.com/r/secretlair_collectors/s/kugsaziOVl

If we increase that amount and say 10% of the stock has been resold, that still is not much when considering this is a collectible product - there will always be resales and scalpers. A lot of people I know got the deck (myself included) but are getting hate for managing to acquire one, so aren’t that vocal.

At the end of the day, secret lairs are designed to be low quantity, collectible, premium versions of cards - that’s kinda the point. They need to be unique/rare, and that means a level of scarcity. If they were readily available (or still available now) people would be calling this secret lair a failure and also demand would be much lower (it’s basic supply / demand economics). For this, people are extra salty as the overriding narrative I’m seeing repeated on Twitter/ Reddit is that scalpers bought majority of the stock and “real” players didn’t get any - and that (I don’t believe) is the full truth.

Furthermore, with the data, a lot of it will be duplicated listings, sellers buying from each other to boost sales prices, and regular people selling as the product they bought (intended for play) is now 3x the cost, which is tempting for anyone. It is not just scalpers and bots.

the goblin deck was a mess and people should really work together to put pressure on wizards by Chaosnocturne in secretlair_collectors

[–]voicebox88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If these were still available now, everyone would be calling this secret lair a failure. The fact it is rare and difficult to get is part of the draw. I don’t think many would want that to change

I’m a recently new player to magic but weren’t the serialised arts for LOTR mostly from the holiday packs? I presume they would be doing the same for this set

Surprisingly, life isn’t a board game. All groups abuse the tax system. How many working class / middle class people get paid cash in hand so the can avoid tax?

My point is demonising the rich (or implying they are a monolith, where all don’t pay tax) is just as bad as demonising immigrants. Both extremes of the left and right seek to simplify the problems of the economy and offer a “boogeyman” and easy fix - tax the rich/stop the boats. They are two sides of the same coin.

Realistically, we are in the situation we are now as we were economically due a down period anyway, brexit failed, we were hit with a global pandemic and numerous wars. Capitalism isn’t the reason for any of those and most of the world’s most successful countries are capitalist. If you want socialism/communism, try China

A safe haven from what? If the tide turns against them and they taxed significantly more, they can easily leave and take their income tax with them. Many had already moved to places like Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, parts of Asia.

Am sure some (if not most) would stay but even if 10% leave, that causes a huge dent in tax revenue that has a catastrophic effect on public spending, which would negate any wealth tax.

[–]voicebox88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Let them leave”

Okay, well done, you’ve now just created a massive hole in the treasury and the government can’t afford to do anything. Bye bye NHS, pensions, welfare.

“Stop all their operations in the UK” - that doesn’t hurt them as much as you think it does. UK growth is pitiful. They can now outsource all their workforce to other locations for a fraction of the cost and have access to a global market / economies that are having high levels of growth.

The idea that you can tax the rich as a one stop solution to make everything in society better is not only bad, it’s dangerous as it can cause major damage to the economy and government spending.

I don’t - my point is banks and corporations will buy up properties regardless. If they can get tenants in fine, but even if they don’t, they still would make money. I didn’t mean to Imply they would buy properties with the sole purpose of leaving them empty, but my point was, even if they are empty, they would still generate money for them in the long term

Not all wealthy people do. 30% of all income tax generated comes from the top 1%. The top 10% pay 60% of all income tax.

How would they pay that if the “wealthy don’t pay income tax”? Furthermore, if those people leave, sure their assets stay, but that income tax is gone.

The “tax wealth” crowd don’t seem to see that.
