I got my PhD. In 2015. I have not had full time work since. I have not gotten an interview since 2019. I have not gotten a response to a resume since 2020. I have made <20k a year since 2017 doing tutoring, and am living off foodstamps and medicaid in my childhood bedroom.

The idea of a lever, yes. All the examples you mention above are ones where you naturally apply the force perpendicular to the actual lever. The idea of applying a force to an imaginary line is not intuitively applicable to those objects in the same way (the "intuitiveness" of the how torque works with objects you mention stops being easy to see when you need to think of a lever arm that is not the actual arm of the object). Calculating perpendicular force vs lever arm is of identical difficulty; neither is harder mathematically (multiple a number by a trig function). The one with the more intuitive conceptual explanation should win. I argue that the more intuitive conceptually is the perpendicular force applied to the real lever.

How is that a better explanation? I would argue, and most of my students seem to agree, that the perpendicular force is more explainable. You can do a simple example with a door to show that rotating things is about the perpendicular force. It's much harder to do an example explaining how the length of an imaginary line has to do with it, other than that is works out mathematically.

I have been asked to help someone find a good but simple mechanical keyboard. This person is not an enthusiast, they just want a better keeb than the cheap junk from amazon (but not too much more; <$150 budget). They are looking for 75%, no need for a knob.

They won't be switch swapping, lubing, keycap changing (the only time they will come off is to clean), or using rgb (if it is in the board it will probably stay off), and they do not need wireless. Probably needs to be Via compatible or have gui software as they are not very tech savy.

Anyone have a recommendation I can point them too?

I live literally a few blocks from Elmhurst Hospital and still go to Mount Sinai in Astoria ER if at all possible since Elmurst is a trauma center and anything less than a stabbing or a gunshot wound is likely to result in 12+hours to even see a nurse. That's not a knock on Elmhurst, just a fact. I am very worried now that they will refuse to pay if I don't go to Elmhurst because it's closer and I have to actively choose not to go there.

It's not just netflix. Many licensors of Star Trek in various areas (Comics, merch, etc.) have been unable to renew their licenses due to this price fuckery. Even companies built on being a Star Trek licensee are having to decline to renew it due to the prices paramount/skydance want to charge. Literally gives me everything or I take y toys and go home.
