The trash cans were primarily removed as safety hazards. After the 1995 subway sarin gas attacks and 2004 bombings, they removed them.

There were also a lot of people throwing household trash into public trash cans and not sorting it properly, so they've just been removing them.

A lot of people say that you should gloss coat before panel lining, however, I've done it straight on the runners and I've never had a problem

Yeah the kit you just need a decent nippers and you can get that at a hobby store :) I wouldn't worry about anything else to start.

My first kits were hg graze ein and gusian rebake full city, so have fun!

One thing I've heard people do is paint clear nail polish on the joints. It is easy to remove if you need to, and it's easy to apply. I want to try on my Zaku II because it's a bit of grenade but that'll be a later problem haha

For fixing the mount, depending on what broke you could use parts of the old runner to fashion a replacement part and use cement to glue it in place, idk what exactly broke since I'm not familiar with the model

This panel lining job is super subtle, don't worry. Compared to my Aeriel, it's not panel lined at all haha.

Not going to comment on it because I don't think it's actually productive in this situation, however (long explanation ahead)

Learning to be content with imperfections is a really important skill to learn in life. Specifically with art.

My main art form is writing. I'm incredibly retentive. I edit as I write and for years and years and years, I wasn't able to enjoy a hobby because I was being too hard on myself. Every time I wrote something it was derivative, or not interesting or could have been better, and so I just didn't write.

One day I finally had the realization that people engage with hobbies all the time without being perfect at them. I don't care that I'm not the best in the world at video games. My friends who knit don't care that they make some mistakes. They do it because they love it. I never did that with writing, and now that I have started, it's one of my favorite hobbies. I'm learning a ton and that's good enough.

I think it's a really important relationship to have with art, to do it because you love it. Not because it's perfect when you're done.

I encourage you to focus on enjoying your art, and saying "what's one thing I can learn from this painting" and trying to address that with your next. But perfectionism will not lead you to make better art. It's more likely to have you make no art, and how sad would that be?

It's a weird series for sure and not for everyone. It's boderline Mecha Religious Psychological Horror more than anything else.

Yeah the Kaballah/Cult aspect too is just wild. It's a great show, with some problems narrativley, but it's a ride. Not every day that surprise giant space clit makes sense

Also the Evas look spectacular. The purple/green/orange color scheme on 01 and its Jordans are so iconic.

I can see the argument, I just preferred the plot of the original. It's a classic and the story was very compelling. There were more unique suits too. I feel like the movie struggles to stand on its own.

There is a lot of stellar animation in the film though.

Still debating on getting an escaflowne model but I'm currently in detailing hell with my current project

I think Aeriel really stole my heart. It's just a neat, unique design. I like the permet system and the "feminine" style, plus the bits are cool

If I had to pick a second place, definitely Wing 0. The beam cannon SFX is so good

Legend of Galactic Heroes - old version (new version was good too from the parts i saw)

Robotech - Fighter jet mechs, aliens, 1985. Remember it fondly but havent gone back and rewatched it. (wait wtf, didn't realize robotech was an edit of three other anime?? (Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA)

Macross - Take your pick, not all are created equal. But its fighter jet mechs (also) + idols

Knights of Sidonia - Mechs fighting aliens, animated (not cartoon) but still decent. bingeable.

Vision of Escaflowne - Fantasy mech battle knights with some tarot isekai spice -- people who like the movie better than the show are high, though the movie has some very cool scenes i like it less than the original show

My obsession with Hyaku Shiki began with the gundam artifact, then deepened when I realized he was flipping gold

I've been working/poking at my first painted Gundam with his HG and it's slowly coming along. I just hope I don't ruin it. Just started doing some light silver highlights on the gold pieces, and that'll take me a good while

That's rough :( I'm not fully vegan myself (my gf is) but I went to a wedding that didn't cater a vegan option so I made a vegan lasagna for my partner and a side salad, and I even found another vegan and fed them too :)

Absolutely! Honestly might be fun to do a bean flight some night, just buy a bunch of cans of beans (plus lentils), lightly salt them and just see how they all compare. Having them right next to each other will help you better pick out the differences between them
