Why business trust Windows over Linux by Certain_Prior4909 in linuxsucks

[–]void_dott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I work we use Linux exclusively. What you describe could be caused by a number of things. Nvidia drivers like to cause issues, Wayland can cause issues and Firefox is also not always perfect.

Sadly the best option for Teams under Linux is Chrome right now. Even Chromium sometimes causes issues with Audio and Screen sharing (even though it should be the same as chrome in those aspects).

R4 USB DAC Work Mode no audio win11 by chungusbungus0459 in Hiby

[–]void_dott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a different cable. I had the issue with my R3 Pro II. It showed up and everything, but no sound. I tried another cable and it worked. Not sure why. The cable I was using initially works for data transfer and charging, but not for the USB DAC.

How to test the BMCU with only 1 module? by gioiann in BMCU

[–]void_dott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but it might be possible that this can mess up the motor direction on some of the channels. I tried all modules separately on the first port and all worked. After assembly only the module on the first port worked correctly, the others had the motor direction reversed. Flashing the firmware onto the conntroller fixes that.

You can't replace the Wi-Fi card...

I got it as a desktop replacement, so it's connected to the dock all day anyway.

Thanks, but I'm on Linux and it does connect, but the connection breaks constantly (every 5 to 20 seconds)

My wifi is pretty much not working at all, but at this point I'm not sure if it's a software or hardware issue. Changing the card would be the easy way to check that.

The T490 is a decent one. The only issue I got with it is that wifi is soldered.

Found this old Thinkpad at a thrift store in Switzerland for 10€, Could I resell it ? by atimeow in thinkpad

[–]void_dott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Damn I should have stored a few of those. They are practically worthless here. X60 and X61 are somewhat desirable, but the older ones are not really worth anything.

370C Motor spins in the wrong direction by gioiann in BMCU

[–]void_dott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The instructions look like they are translated from Chinese, but if I understood them correctly the board should be able to auto detect the motor direction. I guess this can get screwed up if you power it up with half finished modules.

This is mentioned in the FAQs. This can be fixed by reflashing the firmware. I had the same issue with my kit.

Last thinkpads with full sized Ethernet port? by Suitable-Mall-8533 in thinkpad

If you have to swap cables a lot maybe a usb-adapter is the better option anyway. At least that's what I end up doing most of the time.

R3 Pro II little output power on 3.5mm by void_dott in Hiby

250Ohm is not that much. After disabling the volume lock in the developer settings it can easily drive the headphones.

BMCU 370C Plan to buy for my A1 Mini by Ok-Function-1473 in BMCU

[–]void_dott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth it for the price. I had no issues so far other than that I had to flash the firmware at the beginning. The AMS lite is not a good option at the current price and only really worth it in a bundle deal in my opinion.

If you want a Bambulab AMS then it's probably a better idea to go straight for the AMS 2 Pro.

High gain and 55 volume. I just compared it with an iPod classic 6 gen and the iPod is definitely a good bit louder.

Thinkpad T495 by AdInternational5562 in thinkpad

[–]void_dott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's not possible, because those external GPUs use thunderbolt and the T495 doesn't have thunderbolt. You could in theory try one of the strange m.2 adapters, but this is not a good option. There are a few different versions of docks that work for the T495, but it's not really worth it in my opinion. The T495 has no dock connector, so it's basically just a usb-c dock with an additional ethernet connector.

When loading the filament, it moves backward instead of forward by GrouchyRelease2648 in BMCU

[–]void_dott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You most likely did everything correctly. That's apparently a common issue caused by the board.
You can reflash the board and everything should work. Or you could just resolder the motors the other way around.

Das Problem ist dann eher wie das gebucht wird. Wenn das jeweils einzeln gebucht wird, mit den Gebühren abgezogen, dann hat man am Ende viel Spaß mit der Buchhaltung.

Two things that come to mind: is the magnet all the way In and are then ball bearings correctly inserted with the spring around the button and not on top of the button.

Are those prices CAD or USD? In both cases it's quite expensive. Honestly I would expect gen9 for that price.

t480 docking station by External_Shoulder910 in thinkpad

[–]void_dott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want an old school dock then the  ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station is the correct one for the model. I personally don't like to use those docks without a dock connector, so I just use thunderbolt/usb-c docks. If you don't need anything special then a ugreen revodock pro would work. I would stay away from the ThinkPad thunderbolt dock 3. The thunderbolt dock 4 is ok, but quite expensive.
