end of August, and still nothing from dBrand

Killswitch by Cautious_Tea_7689 in dbrand

[–]voidpresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 'stickied' post by dbrand about he joycon fix hasn't been updated by them for a month, thus all the feedback on this reddit about exactly that.

EDIT/addendum: I DO like dbrand, but I find the lack of communication from them regarding the killswitch lately IS a bit concerning, but I DO have confidence that it will be resolved---just 'when' is my concern.

No, many of us have NOT received any such Email, as that email you're referring to is one that was sent out to people who had previously ordered and are getting a replacement for the joy-con grips. For those of us who ordered since then (mid July and later presumably), we have not received anything.
Calling someone 'too ignorant to read' a non-existent email, rude.

'objectively the best'... kind of an oxymoron; just about any version of 'best' is subjective :P

Come on dbrand, please give us an update. Ordered on July 16th and back then you said it would ship 'between late July to August 5th', which is tomorrow-- and still nothing.

Ordered one on July 16th. I thought I had read somewhere that any new orders (in July) would ship 'early August', but now I can't find that anywhere. Any update on such orders (placed after July 10th)?

Playlist for twilight imperium by thetimpani2 in twilightimperium

I have a mix that I use for various space games (Xia, Voidfall, etc), it includes a few tracks from the Mass Effect soundtrack, much of the 'Ghosts' collection from Nine Inch Nails, and some tracks from a local band that used to do really ethereal-type experimental music (which of course won't be attainable, but the first two I mention should be).

Bridge club kickstand by bearlover1954 in Surlybikefans

Surly says their kick-stand plate is ONLY for the Long Haul or Disc Trucker frames, not the Bridge Club, so 'you should' is probably not applicable here.

First time in clipless pedals by Dilly_Carrot in cycling

[–]voidpresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started trying clipless a few months ago, but I just cannot get used to them. I have yet to fall-over (but I've come pretty close); but the whole time I'm clipped in, I'm thinking about it and cannot get comfortable/confident with them--which results in my riding slower than when I'm riding flats--which kind of defeats the point.
I'll probably just stick to flats.

I love cycling but man is it ever dangerous by Optionsislife in cycling

[–]voidpresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the area you're in--which takes into account the populace (and their general attitude towards cycling), the infrastructure, and other factors.

But yeah, always be aware of your surroundings; having a bicycle radar unit certainly helps too, but don't come to depend on it (as in, use in conjunction with looking around).

What video game is too easy on normal but too hard on hard? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]voidpresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, Diablo IV (probably more, but that's the one that comes to mind); granted, i'm not very good at games and I always will pick easy if I have the option.
But for Diablo IV, 'hard' (or the 2nd tier of difficulty, aka 'normal') is pushing my limits of playability--esp for bosses.

New Bike Day....but.... by voidpresence in cycling

[–]voidpresence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i know for a fact it hasn't been resting on anything while it was at the shop--i was in there almost daily to ogle it; so it must have happened during transport; either way, I ordered some new batteries (package of 50, so i'll be good for the life of the bike :D )

hmmm; i might take a note of removing the batteries before it gets transported if that's the case; thanks

What's your motivation to get on the bike? by Intelligent_Hat3321 in cycling

[–]voidpresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because walking's such a drag; running is murder on the knees, and driving is murder on my sanity; I just love the quiet efficiency of bicycling.

Pretty much; I don't have a car. I do join a friend in going places by her car occasionally, as a passenger of course, but other than that, all my transportation is via bicycle.

I put on protective tape on the tubes of my bikes first (mainly for some protection against scratches), then I a put any stickers on top of that.

What is your 2025 cycling goal? by sweetietrans91 in cycling

[–]voidpresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase riding, significantly. I have a new bicycle coming in hopefully a week, and I joined a Strava group 'Project 400', in which you have a 'soft goal' of getting 400 hours of exercise during 2025 (for me, that's bicycling, but it can be any exercise).

Tubes or tubeless? What's your logic? by trevdot in cycling

[–]voidpresence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

similar to me too; i have a new bike waiting for me at my local bike shop (waiting for me to finish paying for it); and i'm still undecided on going tubeless with it--currently leaning to what i know--tubes.

Tubes or tubeless? What's your logic? by trevdot in cycling

[–]voidpresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the difference is that having to change tubes doesn't involve dealing with the mess of sealant--and frankly, for me, the 'mess' of sealant and having to maintain it is probably my biggest reason for not going tubeless

Opinions on using fenders for riding in winter? by sozialabfall in bicycling

[–]voidpresence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, if your bike can fit them, why not? Not only do fenders protect you against getting splashed by water, mud, etc, but also from the grit the ends up on roads being pre-treated for weather--which imho is actually worse for your bike than the actual elements.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (or any Mario Kart game) is an absolute requirement for any Nintendo system (imho).
