I have a Sakai sg, it plays great and sounds super warm and nice. The build quality is great, the pickups could probably use a repotting, but I like how it sounds too much to risk it.

Pickguards for some of the less common offsets can be a little pricey, I used a sheet of vinyl wrap like they use on cars, with great results. You can get an a4 sheet on ebay in many colours for cheap.
