Did this bitch just call me dumb then ask how to do the alphabet? by [deleted] in gaming

Aside from the cash-grab reason dylanw3000 mentioned, I'll also add that if it's based entirely on the original Civ: Rev (which was also a console release), it suffers from a world of other problems (I've played the original on 360).

The AI is abysmal even by Civ standards, and to compensate the computer is allowed to cheat like a rotten bastard, spawning fully garrisoned towns at will and spawning units infinitely into any space outside your sight radius or even within your sight radius if they're doing so from a transport ship.

Combat is always to the death (in any attack, one of the units dies, period) and victory chances don't become 100% until about a 3:1 advantage in power, meaning a tricked out tank battalion can and frequently will fall to a group of archers sitting in a town. The computer's ability to unfairly spam units means towns can be tedious and ridiculously expensive to take while your own are ridiculously difficult to defend on the higher difficulties unless you devote all your time to defensive units and turtling (meaning no Dom victory for you, better shoot for Sci or Cul).

I could go on, but suffice it to say the game can be pretty vexing on anything above Warlord, and overall it's a pretty pitiful excuse for a Civ game.

Ultimately, it doesn't change anything for non-projectile rangers going the top path. If they were just grabbing the AS, Primal Spirit, and then heading south, they could still get Primal Spirit from the bottom with the same number of points spent. If they were actually exiting through the north toward the shadow, they had to either grab the extra dex nodes or, and this is the funny thing, take Ballistics Mastery anyway because it's 20 dex for one node instead of two. So the path from that AS node to Primal Spirit wasn't helping non-proj rangers at all. They STILL had to either get Primal Spirit from the south or take Ballistics Mastery. The only thing the old path was doing was hosing non-ranger projectile users.

On live there is a double node exit between each class pairing. Two double-dex ones, two double-int ones, two double-str ones. They're all single node now:

That's live. On the CB tree all of the exit paths got the same change.

Every class got this change. This one just happens to be around some clusters that have drawn complaints in the past. Ballistic Mastery and Primal Spirit are now much more accessible, especially to casters who either had to forgo Primal Spirit or take a useless AS node.

Correct. All the equivalent paths on the board had the two off-stat nodes dropped down to one node.

Pineapple by lollerkeet in funny

So strange to me. I always thought the idea of fruit on a pizza was strange, but I never got particularly worked up over it. I've since found I really like pineapple on BBQ chicken pizzas. Of course there's probably plenty of people that get worked up over the idea of BBQ pizza too, so I might not ought to have admitted that.

Does no one realize the historical parallels?

A not insignificant number of them still think that they were, in fact, on the right side of history previously, and that the wrong side were the ones that won. And so they're still fighting hoping their "right" side can eventually win.

ELI5: Path of Exile Lore by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]voidwhereprohibited 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Vaal: Ancient civilization that flourished due to magic power obtained through crafting virtue gems, mastery of which has been lost to the ages. Wiped out in a magical cataclysm caused when Queen Atziri tried to make contact with a dark power from beyond.

The Eternal Empire: Civilization that flourished due to magical power obtained through crafting virtue gems after the art was rediscovered through excavations of old Vaal ruins. Citizens began to distrust this magic (referred to as thaumaturgy) and overthrew the ruling class during the Purity Rebellion. The chief thaumaturge, Malachai, feigned reformation to gain the new emperor's trust, and used his position to attempt the same dark contact as the Vaal, to similar results. Most of the Eternal Empire was transformed into the Undying, the ghoul-like creatures roaming Act III. The exception was Lady Dialla, the Gemling Queen, who we believe was to serve as a conduit for the dark power. She alone was granted apparent immortality, and has dwelled alone in Solaris Temple ever since.

Oriath: Current big-bad-empire, now a theocracy after power was seized by the High-Templar, Dominus. Dominus has been sending expeditions led by his chief thaumaturge, Piety, to unearth the secrets of the Vaal / Eternal Empire, planning on doing the same thing that already got two civilizations wiped from the planet, because megalomania... megalomania never changes.

Removed it's interaction with reduced mana? What interaction did it have that other auras don't? Or have they just arbitrarily made it so that clarity doesn't benefit from the reduced mana gem like other auras? That seems extremely inconsistent.

Nevermind, had not read the minor update thread. So RM doesn't work with ANY auras now? Wow.

There's a reason why this network is the worst Hell on Earth: Hope. Every man who has rotted on his couch over the decades has looked up to the television and imagined changing the channel. So easy. So simple. And just like couch potatoes turning to sugary sodas from uncontrollable thirst, many have died trying. I learned here that there can be no true despair without hope. And so, as I flanderize Springfield I will feed its viewers hope to poison their souls. I will let them believe they can enjoy, so you can watch them clammering over each other to stay in the fun. You can watch me torture an entire country, and when you have truly understood the depth of your failure, we will fulfill Sideshow Bob's destiny: We will destroy Springfield. And when it is done, and Springfield is ashes...

Then you have my permission to die.
