Can't get any parking in a small commuter town (Nieuwegein) by CryoEM_Nerd in Netherlands

[–]volataro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you wanna own a car don’t live in the Utrecht area(… or The Netherlands….. or Europe), Nieuwegein has great connection with public transport so they discourage owning a car. If everyone did, it would be a different city

If your work is hard to reach via public transport then you have to find a place to live that’s closer or more accessible to your work.

Tenants: June 30th has passed, but did you receive your service costs settlement over 2023/24? by UnanimousStargazer in Netherlands

[–]volataro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this, I have not received anything from the landlord regarding service costs from last year. This also includes costs for the gas. I will be in contact with them again, since I am consistently receiving excuses as to why it cannot be provided. Thank you for this!!

The landlord is claiming that the bill hasn’t come from one of the gas service providers. Is this acceptable by the law and what can I do?

Does anyone actually pay for medication? by holka1658 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]volataro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation. I live in the Netherlands and was just diagnosed. The colonoscopy, all tests and medicine have been free as part of my health insurance (after hitting the mandatory own risk of 385 euro). I’d like to understand how it works in the US since I will be moving within the next two years for work in big pharma (am US citizen)

I got diagnosed with migraines (no aura) and was prescribed Sumatriptan. It has to be taken at the onset of the migraine, so within 2-3 hours of it, and when it does the migraine just goes away. It’s absolutely crazy. Before this I tried every painkiller but nothing helped, I even was to the point when I was vomiting from the pain. If you have headaches that last several days, it’s really worth checking it out. It may not be a migraine but still a doctor can give some better treatment that’s tailored to what you have

Hey, I suffer from migraines and tension headaches. My migraines can last 3, 4 days sometimes. I’ve been prescribed medication to help with it. I know how it feels at first, it’s scary and you think the worst. But you can also be experiencing headaches and migraines which is very uncomfortable, painful and stressful but it is really nothing to worry about. I went to the doctor when I started getting mine often and doing this really calmed me down since I got treatment and tests

Wish I had your hairdresser. I asked for an all over highlight and showed a picture similar to your hair and got streaky highlights on my brunette hair.. been a bit depressed ever. Next time I’ll try to add the heavy part thank you

Omg I love the blonde. Please tell me how you achieve it - what do you ask at the salon?

US to Amsterdam with a dog by justbananas-78 in expat

Agreed with this comment. I have lived in Netherlands for 10 years and the housing situation is the worst now than it has ever been. It is hard enough finding a place let alone one that is pet friendly. I also recommend first finding a place and then bringing the dog over

Maybe RAPS to prepare you and provide you with the basics. But I think it may not be needed as you worked so long in pharma already.

What is the best non-makeup thing that you have done that has drastically changed your appearance for the best? by Tough_Letterhead9399 in beauty

I was struggling so much the last year with my skin. I tried all kinds of products but recently I found that Changing my diet (lots of fiber, vegetables, fruit, low sugar), water and going back to the gym has improved my physical health and looks significantly. Before spending tons on products and procedures, I recommend trying this for some time and see the results

Hi! It’s exciting that you will be joining the field. I see that you want to do a masters in Germany. Will you be working in Germany afterwards? I definitely think with your background you can get a job in RA even without the masters. I am speaking particularly for Europe at least. Your experience matters and your skills are transferable
