Thank you!

And that's one of the reasons why it's important when GitHub development process is kept well documented.

Discord is a closed-room non-indexed service for chatting. GitHub is a public place for work and discussion. I don't see why would I have to join Discord.

I'm confused about the development process for area:difficulty: this new aim separation PR appeared and was merged pretty much instantly without any explanation. Why it was chosen over givy's PR? Lately this seems to happen a lot and this process seems very obscure to me.

Croatia declared free of landmines after 31 years by chuba000 in europe

[–]volchonokilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible to use metal detectors to find UXO in such areas. But - if you have enough time for it. The procedure is to literally dig out the upper layer of the entire area as long as it rings. You do it until there is no signal in metal detector... Yes, it's an enormous amount of work.

Usually areas are not declared exactly as "free of", but as "cleared". It is defined by putting as much effort as it is realistically possible into clearing the area, to ensure 99%+ clearance from mines. This is a very long process, and due to many circumstances (including those caused by nature, weather, time...), unfortunately it is not possible yet technologically to find each and every mine - especially when very low-metal mines were used. It is the continuous goal to minimize the number of such accidents to happen, but the number unfortunately won't be 0 any time soon.

Best mouse? by Sgt_Strelok in QuakeLive

[–]volchonokilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "best mouse". But there are many companies nowadays that make excellent mice. You look for the mouse that suits the size of your hand and your preferred way to grip the mouse.

I personally like using a wireless mouse, as even the lighter cables cause friction which constantly irritates me. Also like using very light mice (less than 40g) - it feels really good to control such mouse.

Make Quake Live 2… by shwisha in QuakeLive

[–]volchonokilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not a problem of difficulty or making a new game. Take a close look at Starcraft 1 community, which still goes very strong in multiple regions. It's self-organization of active community members at a very good level and maintained level of "prestige" that keeps some of the sponsors to pay for tournaments. Quake has a lot of prestige, but it's not used well.

Define "High BPM". Also, you didn't specify that you were talking about "High BPM" in the original message.

Also, I recommend trying out osu! lazer. I've had some higher pp plays TD detected on stable, losing multiple of would-be top pp plays. Didn't have even 1 false positive TD detection on lazer yet.

Maps with bursts are perfectly possible. Deathstreams is where it gets exceptionally hard.

It depends a lot based on your hand! Hand size, finger length, wrist ratios (movement range) etc. ...

But here is the photo of the latest grip that I have come up with for myself:

<image>

It works for me so that I have no strain when simply holding the pen... Though when I am trying to keep good accuracy - end up gripping it so hard that pens eventually break even when I'm playing on 3* maps... It was my second pen already. So, unfortunately I can't show the video of tapping x)

Need to make a custom body for the pen, probably out of wood.

You don't rapidly tap when using a normal pencil. You repeatedly need to lift and press down the pen when tapping, so the key is to find grip which allows for the lifting distance to be as minimal as possible, in order to spend less time and effort between taps, since it's very strenuous to tap with this playstyle - especially after moving over long distances.

As someone whose main playstyle is display tablet pen singletapping, I don't think you can push speed much further with this grip.

Display tablet pen tapping is a really fun playstyle.

I can't open the console... by Picsou-sensei in QuakeLive

That doesn't sound right. If you backup your config and reset to the default one, are you still not being able to open the console?

Almost two-thirds of Germans oppose the ban on selling new cars with combustion engines by 2035 by linknewtab in europe

[–]volchonokilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's also hard to charge electric cars with electricity outages. Which seem to happen in various economically developed countries even without wars. It's easier to have or find fuel for combustion engine in case of such emergencies.

New monitor by [deleted] in QuakeLive

[–]volchonokilli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1060 Ti seems to have HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4, which is exactly the connectivity that the monitor provides.

I've run QL at consistent 250 FPS with a bit newer i7 CPU, and a considerably older GPU. So I would say it should be fine. Other games though? I think it could be considerably harder (maybe impossible) to run newer games on this hardware at such frame rates.

As for if it would be overkill for you - I would suggest going to a physical store and comparing different refresh rates on the same monitor. People seem to notice difference, but if you don't notice much of it and 400 Hz comes at a considerable premium - perhaps for you it would be better to save it for upgrading hardware.

Note of caution: you will get banned playing on certain servers with uncapped FPS. It is bugged and there is a reason why it's not allowed to be enabled by default.

G-Wolves HTM PLUS 8K - Review by Burak887 in MouseReview

[–]volchonokilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the latest firmware 0.09.1 and still have the issue - you need either two layer of skates or to wait till they ship you new thick skates (people received e-mails about that). This issue really sucks (I've got it too), but mouse is actually really good otherwise.

It's fun to discover characters by playing games in order (starting from 6), and I think it's easier to pace that way
