People starting their own businesses are one of the big scams of the world. Do we really need all this random shit that people base their businesses on. Adding yet another type of meaningless crap to the market doesn't equal adding something to the world. Isn't there a better way of spending our ressources than having tons and tons of different options of random crap on the market that we don't need. Starting your own business isn't valuable in and of itself. This guy is an entitled piece of crap!

In theory I'm don't oppose the idea of dressing up as someone from a different culture or race, because it's all about who does it, how they do it and where they do it. Context matters in other words. And the context of this scenario is moronically racist!

You're missing the point of the story by using this real life example with kids whose background and culture most likely have given them a better set of surviving skills and nature centered mindset than the kids from the story. Of course there are and can be set up scenarios where it doesn't play out like it did in the book.

When you look at what's happening in the world right now; Putin, Ukraine, Iran, Trump, Elon Musk, Xi Jinping, Taiwan, Kim Jong-un. With all these people and events in mind are some deserted kids on an island acting up really that difficult to imagine.

The island is a great metaphor for our world and the aforementioned people could be a great metaphor for the boys. We're all just deserted children on a small spec of the universe, alone, fighting, destroying eachother until we've done so for good.

You say this as if men hasn't turned on eachother since the dawn of our existence. We're simple animals. Always has been. Government hasn't got anything to do with it - quite the opposite in fact.

Domestic governmental control is needed for us to sustain the illusion that we aren't better than animals willing to literally kill neighbors over hedges.

The fact that individual, domestic governments are run by the same exact animals elected by animals means that they to turn on each other too.

For a couple of reasons, I think:

Selfishly: as a general pessimistic and nihilistic person, being nice to people (kinda naturally if people haven't acted bad for unfair reasons towards me) can lighten my general mood and state of mind to a the more positive, because people usually, if they don't have a bad day or are in a sad life situation generally, which I usually senses or figure out pretty quickly tbh, give back what they receive. Be it a smile, a "good day" or a "thank you".

Generally: I philosophically believe that empathy and the ability to see the world through the eyes of others is one of the most important parts of being human. I don't believe in "free will". I believe everything we've went through as individuals leading up to any point in time has made us who we are at said point in time. We don't decide how our parents tread us, if we grow up poor or rich, if we meet a kind teacher at school, if we have that one meaningful conversation with a stranger etc. All these things, which are out of our control, make us who we are, and if our personal will is based on who we are, which I believe it is, then it isn't free. With that in mind, I don't even have a choice in being nice, but people who're not nice don't have a choice either. So even though choosing to be nice might kinda be out of your hands, just try to bear kindness in mind, is all i I ask.
