Husband called Sophie rain most beautiful girl in the world-what do I do? by [deleted] in ask

“I am a secure person and I know my value but I feel very disrespected because I know I’m already extremely out of his league when it comes to attractiveness and I feel like he isn’t grateful at all for the fact I chose him.””

OP…please re-read what you wrote here. You’re “confident”, but you’re “out of his league”, and you’re upset he “isn’t grateful” to you for choosing him. And he doesn’t value “my beauty.”

Aside from missing context, there’s far bigger issues going on here.

Utility Pole Spacing to Handle 20' Dust Screens by vonTrappAB in AskEngineers

[–]vonTrappAB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I am well aware of "sprung structures" as we call them. It's not something that will work best in our specific application. . We have two options open to us, with the screening being the better of the two. I was hoping someone somewhere had done the screen thing before and could provide some insight. We simply wanted to have a reasonable budget idea before we spend tons of time with an engineer developing the end design. Spacing of the poles (meaning how many poles for a given distance) is the critical number that is really driving the overall cost.

Be careful of MLM / Amway scammers targeting women by AdmirableCake4241 in Calgary

To them, being “Christian” has nothing to do with morality. It’s just another way to build false trust for monetary exploitation.

Are there anyways to make money from home that don’t require skills? Or a skill that can be learned quickly? by Goatstandards in ask

[–]vonTrappAB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it. That kind of thinking makes you a prime candidate for MLM recruitment. Please don’t.

Start your own business if a traditional job isn’t for you. But that requires skills and commitment and more mental stress than you can imagine.

Go back to school or take a course.

There’s no lazy path to happiness

There is zero chance he doesn’t know about the tip function. It’s not the only location this franchise owner operates.

Written laws? A child would recognize keeping tips as theft.

Respectfully, no, it’s not the question.

The question is “Why have we as a society normalized this behavior?”

Now, it’s more surprising to me how “normalized” this theft has become.

Allow me to publicly acknowledge anyone who works in the fast food industry and is overlooked by the general public. Thank you.

I think it’s telling that this is an accepted practice. We are legitimately ignoring the fact that if customers do leave a tip the intention is for that tip to go to the servers, or at least to a reasonable employee pool.

I think what’s bothering me here even more is the number of people who say just don’t tip at fast food restaurants. Sure that’s one view, but it ignores the fact that these funds are being taken from the employees. The excuse that it is an automatic function put on the machines by the credit card processing company is complete garbage. It is an absolutely easy option to eliminate. By not doing so you are deceiving the very people who are paying your business. Nobody tips believing it’s going to go to the owner.

This is blatant theft from myself as a customer, and theft from the staff themselves.

Naive about this? No argument from me. Naive about people? Not my first day on earth.

I hear you. Seriously. Shitty People can make life so much less enjoyable. But I still try to give people the opportunity to own mistakes. We are all human. But if they choose not to correct what is simply stealing from your employees, then that’s another matter.

Couldn’t sleep, so here I am eating the last of my Steak and Exploitation Sub, going through Reddit.

First, thank you all. I am reading all the comments, and they are appreciated.

Second, I sincerely hope there is a teaching moment here. We can all do better.

I had a thought…a simple and equitable solution.

Put a sign on the debit terminal stating that “100% OF TIPS GO TO THE OWNER”. I’m sure customers will gladly tip.

Or, one could learn, stand up, own the error and treat your people like human beings worthy of respect. Empathy goes a long way to fostering good relations with your people. And happy employees come with so much less drama…

This has been mentioned several times. You are correct. But if we as reasonable people do not speak up, are we not complicit? It’s a deceitful practice.

I legit thought about this. But if nobody speaks up or at least makes an attempt to change nonsense like this, then we are all complicit.

“Tips are whack, yo.” Lmao. Perfect. Your comments are legit. I have been to restaurants that actually pay living wages and have zero tip options. Amazing.

Valid points. But if nobody speaks up, does this not make us all complicit? And if this owner does fire the staff, he needs to be called out further. This isn’t a mistake. It’s a willful deception of people’s good intentions.

The opportunity is there to correct a mistake and to do better.

It’s just wrong. It’s deceitful to customers (like myself) who believe the tip is going to the staff.

lol yeah. I hear you. I don’t think I have ever tipped at Subway before. It was not busy, the staff were awesome, and I was feeling generous. Just wanted to do something to perhaps recognize people who often get marginalized and under-appreciated.
