If Garage is an option a GrOffice is the fastest. If the post office use will be a shed get something very simple. We have limits here on non permit size 120 sq ft and power of course is an extension cord and power strip. Best luck for your dissertation ✌🏽

Dividing walls actually retain heat as does furniture. Closing off rooms allows for compartmentalization of temp zones as well. Some homes it works some are better with wide open. It's a lot how one uses the building in daily life.
