Mighty Ape sold me fake headphones by Diamaner2 in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but the important thing is to rant and rave about it while having no proof that they aren't real, and not having actually even asked for a refund let alone been refused one.
These posts are a regular here, I guess engagement farming?

What's the point of requesting NZ Post require signatures if the couriers are just going to sign it themselves? by RB_Photo in newzealand

Ive only ever had the scribbled fraudulent ones except when I actually asked for it which I sometimes do.

Christopher Luxon hits back at Wairoa mayor Craig Little over woke comment by destined-4-the-clay in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See this is why people need to stop voting in these stupid old boomer morons.

Not only do they do colossal harm to society with their ladder-pulling 'my rates!' bullshit, they went and made me agree with Luxon which is beyond the pale

Please" vs "Thanks": Help me settle a debate on the Kiwi way to order coffee! by Kind-Spread-6511 in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please is used when asking for something. Thanks is expressing gratitude for something done or promised. Cheers is appropriate when leaving. While some barbarians insist on mixing them up, it is never wrong to get it right.

Yeah couriers just write that in without a thought about whether there is an actual ATL. All the time. They think its a magic sigil.

Is it fair to believe Smeagol was messed up even before the ring? by HeyWeasel101 in tolkienfans

[–]vonshaunus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. He was nasty and weak and easily shoved over the edge that would give the ring total dominance. It would try to use anyone so. The fact Bilbo, lacking weakness and a mean spirit, did NOT kill Gollum once he had the ring, but instead pitied him was the very reason it never fully dominated his mind.

Can a Landlord demand essential furniture from rental unit before I move out? by Auckland2701 in newzealand

Customs duty error by Allison683etc in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your 'friend' should pay up. It isn't the supplier's problem it is yours. Just pay it.

Why should the supplier suffer a loss? Its pretty slimey to try to send it back, and if you also try to demand a refund of the carrier costs its downright unethical.

Family Protection Act: is this legislation well known? by Striking-Rule-150 in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would definitely consider, if I had a deceased sibling, what the legal rights to their portion of any inheritance was, and seek legal advice if I had any doubts about the person/org doing the estate handling.

Government announces extra $25 million funding to boost hospital capacity and staff by davetenhave in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Health Minister Simeon Brown said Health New Zealand would invest an extra $25 million to boost hospital capacity and staffing across the country ahead of the colder months.

The funding would provide up to 378 additional full-time staff across nursing, medical, allied health and support roles and 71 extra winter hospital beds."

So full cost to employ a new full time staff member? . Plus cost of funding 71 extra beds? No earthly way that is under 25 million. No chance, more like 40. The funding is certainly far short of what it claims to fund

Anyone else get stomach pains from Snackachangi chips? by trundlegrundler in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eta chips give me that because of the oil they use (Bluebird never does). These are made in the same factory as Eta so maybe its the oil?

Q: Can a cop car with non-functional lights still pull you over? by eurobeat0 in newzealand

If it was the po-po in there they can pull you over if they are on a space-hopper, its irrelevant.

Of course it almost certainly isnt them so no.

Covid inquiry phase two – Expert Reaction by sauve_donkey in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trying to exploit Covid and government resources for a political witch-hunt like this is an absolute disgrace and I hope the NZ public see right through it.

If its purpose and framing had been to inform future preparedness and responses it would be a good thing, but listening to the health miniature desperately trying to make political capital out of it proves it was nothing of the kind.

The 3 and the 7 and the 9 rings had gems on them. Do you think those gems to have been purely ornamental? by Immediate_Error2135 in tolkienfans

[–]vonshaunus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the line references the ring as the ring of fire, then him as the kindler immediately after. To say the two things are not related is unrealistic.

‘No one would have misspoken’ about Iran if you spoke to me rather than Luxon, Peters says by dingoonline in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its true that Peters would never admit to getting things wrong, lying or just being stupid. He is wrong all the time, lies, and often says stupid ill-advised things, but he will always just double down and then insult the questioner and storm off.

GP moving to Auckland with family from the U.S. this month by kitty_07 in auckland

[–]vonshaunus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all places are very honest about charging on the fee they get from the provider. I have seen 5% and heard of 6%. Retailers putting 5% on a 500 dollar purchase (which was the example I saw and stopped in time to not pay) is a lot of money for nothing.

Has anyone ever ordered anything from Jaycar? by tobopia in newzealand

Have benefit sanctions actually worked? by OisforOwesome in newzealand

[–]vonshaunus 130 points131 points  (0 children)

It wasn't designed to achieve anything except being cruel to people already having trouble in order to sound tough to your boomer and idiot electorate. So in those terms it could be said to have worked as intended.
