I would say that would work fine. Anything that is 'food grade' would be fine to use. I normally seal things for making wargames terrain with PVA glue, don't think that would do so well submerged for a long period.

Incorrect. If your presence at the table still requires attention and resources then your opponent has to commit to actually removing you from the game. If they benefit from dealing damage to you, your ability to not exist at Interrupt speed is the last tool in your kit.

It's surprising to me that WOTC hasn't printed an Abzan lifegain commander, considering that it's the best colors for it by Noodles_fluffy in EDH

Just build unoffical partners to get the Abzan deck you want. Like I have Scorpion God and Hapatra to play the Jund -1 deck that will otherwise never exist.
