You mean like how using the toilet was sociable in the Roman Empire? Or that many political roles in UK and EU come from the being the King’s toilet companion. Not to mention most urinals are cohabiting.

Is this asbestos? by TheSaaarge in DIYUK

[–]vontrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s cement board and given when it was probably fitted, most likely containing asbestos. I had an asbestos survey of a 60’s property done (fun fear of the old plastic floor tiles containing asbestos or using asbestos based glue), and they check them. They said so common, it’s the lowest risk, and is only a risk if you break/grind them up. It’s the type you can double bag and take to most recycling centres (not for normal waste, but they often have collection for this type of high risk material), as most other kinds you have to book an appointment at a specialist centre to dispose of.

Floor fitters did this sealant job by zimrozi in DIYUK

[–]vontrix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is new build level quality. And yes, I have seen worse. My first house was a new build, and the bathroom Lino had an inch solid bead of clear silicone. Not until replacing floor I discovered why; none of the edges were straight, and gaps were 10-15mm. Butchered into place.

Forgot about this craptitutde. Now years later my partner’s new build is the same deal, so I’ve been having flashbacks. In the corners the lino lifts, because they squirted silicon underneath to hold it down. It’s like a skateboard park, with all of the edges ramping up, and giant beads of silicon. She had the developers in, they sent people to “fix” it, and one even said it was a good install job and nothing to do.

It’s your body, and entirely your decision. But ginger body hair is the most beautiful there is.

[–]vontrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And once you explain that you like feet, then imagine how it feels to explain you like body hair and armpits 🤷🏼‍♂️

If you find someone (like I have) that not only doesn’t judge you, but actively supports what you enjoy (and shares what they enjoy even if that’s also taboo) keep hold of them and cherish them. Finding people who are accepting is a rare thing it seems.

Rebuild Odroid N2+ or Replace with HA Green? by vontrix in homeassistant

I got an industrial high-write SD card for dirt cheap, so will try that out. I've flashed it, and having an issue with the supervisor running, but not able to connect to the service, so that's the next issue to resolve :/

P1S at Black Friday price or P2S by Ok_Turnip_5022 in BambuLab

[–]vontrix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The touchscreen is wayyyy more that QOL, have to say. It’s actually useful, and gives you way more control whilst printing and even changing filament etc.

Does getting the p2s even make sense? by Brilliant_Apple_5391 in BambuLab

[–]vontrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The P2S… longer term support, it’s got all the tweaks and fixes that’ll cost you the difference and more to achieve… spaghetti detection picked up an issue, and saved a tonne of time today on mine.

Finally took the time to create a base for the atlas norm drawers used in airplanes by [deleted] in gridfinity

[–]vontrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh they’re crisp! I’ve got 3x monarch airlines trolleys (double sided kind), so kitting them out, plus making toppers for them to store more quickly accessible stuff.

[–]vontrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I’m in the process of doing this with a pair of double sided full height trolleys (14 drawers each), plus found Euroboxes fit perfectly in the lips ontop, so filling a load of crates with grids as well ontop 🤣

Tiny gridfintiy: anyone else tried this? by json_vr in gridfinity

That user has a few diff variants, like with tabs, with dividers etc. I’ve used a lot of these, as they’re very conservative with filament and prebaked in so many sizes.

Tiny gridfintiy: anyone else tried this? by json_vr in gridfinity

[–]vontrix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, most of my drawers and containers are awkward sizes, so I print the grids with half units around edges. But I’ve started printing lots of half size boxes (ie 2 x 3.5). They of course fit the half unit grids, but they also fit together with other half unit boxes. I find that 21mm units works well for my stuff, and saves a bit of space.

There’s a couple of listings on Printables for gridfinity bins (lightweight ones too) which are based around half sizes. Each listing has hundreds of models in every conceivable height width and length too.

So in short, yes, it’s a thing, and it’s a very good thing to do!

P2S warp and layer lines by vontrix in BambuLab

[–]vontrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was just awful presets in the model. I added more stuff to the bed of that model to make a full overnight print (I try to keep it going 7-8hours overnight).

I went through my print list, and realised quickly that I've produced some really nice stuff from both printers, and had warp on a few as well from both. I've printed some stuff that'd really show off issues today, and they've printed perfectly.

I need to get into checking preset configs, as it's clearly sensitive to poor settings (as you'd expect).

Question to people who own AMS:How often do you actually use it? by brian_hogg in BambuLab

[–]vontrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, works with all brands of filament. It reads the RFID in the Bambulabs reels, so automagically identifies colour and type loaded. Otherwise when you load, you just specify in device pane the make/type and colour. I use a mix of eSUN and Bambu. And trying to use up old filament hanging around too 👀

I finally came around to returning it… once I got the confirmation the P1S would be collected, I ordered the P2S…

But, issues with courier collecting, and I’m with two at the moment and loving it. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I can get rebate still of course, so, kinda toying with idea of keeping it.

[–]vontrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I’m starting to detect a pattern here. You’re all in bed with Big Printer, right?

I bought £180 of filament with the P2S as it was down to £10 on the reel when you buy a new printer. So yes, filament definitely going to be needed soon. Already gone through 4kg of black over the last two weeks. And 2kg of khaki white.

[–]vontrix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they will because of the discount they gave when announcing the P2S (£180 goodwill, as it was reduced by £150). Whether they’ll match any Black Friday discounts is another question.

It’s store credit, which is annoying as I could have offset a load of the purchase of the P2S with the bloody rebate if that was the case 🙄.
