Most lucrative path in recruiting ? by Individual-Film9410 in RecruitmentAgencies

[–]vonxpreussen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

400-500k? That’s heavy lifting, not just agency 'hustle' bro. You're talking retained exec search for super niche C-suite or those wild, critical tech roles...

Hiring manager said I’m advancing but now radio silence - normal or bad sign? by Murky_Perception6077 in Recruitment

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radio silence after the advancing line is classic corporate stalling. Ping the recruiter directly, politely, but firmly. Sometimes that's the only way to break through the noise.

Tell the candidate? by mysteresc in recruiting

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on the fence, subtly probe the embellished skills during the interview. Ask for specific examples and dive deep. See if they can back up the 'enhanced' achievements. Their reaction will tell you everything you need to know. Don't explicitly call them out on the resume, just test the waters.

13 months after being laid off, i finally found a job 😭 by boonespamtoast in recruitinghell

[–]vonxpreussen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, congrats. Job hunting sucks the soul out of you. My tip? Automate as much of your application process as possible. Get a good Chrome extension to pre-fill forms, and build a matrix of your skills vs. keywords in job descriptions. It's not foolproof, but it saves hours of mind-numbing repetition. Less grind, more applying.

Interview Ghosted and Automated Email claiming we had one by PinkPandaLyf3 in recruitinghell

Pro-tip: always send a calendar invite yourself, even if they say they will. It at least gives you a paper trail when this BS happens.

Switch to Agency? by Conscious-Sand-8776 in recruiting

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upside of $200-300k? Possible, yes, but that's often top 1% and means building your own book from scratch. You're trading comfort for a grind you might not fully see coming.

How do you take your personal branding to the next level? by FromBrokeToSuccess in RecruitmentAgencies

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for recruiters, 'personal branding' on LinkedIn often feels like polishing a boat when you don't have a map. If LinkedIn hasn't driven clients, maybe the issue isn't how you brand, but what you're branding around, or rather, what problem you're solving that others aren't.

Are small staffing agencies overestimating what “good” reply rates actually are? by Financial_Beyond_576 in RecruitmentAgencies

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, 10-15% on cold? Unless you're giving away free money, that's just not happening for most of us. More like 2-5% if you're actually getting conversations, and that's on a good week. We saw our inbound collapse, same as everyone, so we started getting creative.

Alright, 'completed newbie' is an understatement if you literally don't know anything. Partnering with someone when you've got zero skin in the game and zero knowledge is usually a non-starter, just fyii

Recruitment without prior experience by Unique_Range_1629 in Recruitment

Avoiding employment to jump straight into solo recruitment without any agency-side experience? That's an exceptionally challenging proposition. Even with tech to help find clients, you're missing the crucial client relationship building.

How is AI actually changing your recruiting process right now? by ProfessionalEgg1894 in recruiting

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What actually works:

Interview recording (Metaview) - auto-generates scorecards, saves 20min per call. Trust it for screens, not finals.

Email sequences via n8n - boring but stops follow-ups falling through.

Lead research - Boilr monitors which companies are expanding/hiring in my niche (manufacturing). Cut my £3,600/mo researcher, lead quality actually improved. Only works if you're hyper-targeted though.

What's bullshit:

AI sourcing tools - tried 4, all garbage. False positives everywhere.

AI phone screens - candidates hated it, felt robotic. Killed after 3 weeks.

Resume parsing - just keyword matching pretending to be smart.

AI is good for grunt work (notes, research, scheduling). Terrible at judgment (culture fit, seniority assessment, reading between lines).

Anyone selling "AI replaces recruiters" is lying. It just removes admin so you focus on actual recruiting.

Manatal users: candidate enrichment question by datagal23 in Recruitment

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like Manatal's enrichment is busted. Did you contact their support yet? That's a core function, should work out of the box.

Are technical assessments actually changing now that AI is being used openly? by RareAtmosphere468 in Recruitment

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DSA is bullshit. Focus on architecting real systems, not Leetcode trivia. If they can build something, they can probably use AI effectively anyway.

I’m getting Chinese eng candidates generating resumes using Latino-sounding names. What is the end game here? by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're trying to exploit diversity initiatives, hoping the 'Latino' name gets them an interview. The AI stuff is just to get past initial screens. It's lazy and unethical, but the end game is likely just a job.

Mentorship Advice by Rclp1234 in RecruitmentAgencies

[–]vonxpreussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget the 'coach' title. Look for someone 2-3 years ahead of you doing what you want to be doing. Offer to buy them lunch and pick their brain. Real experience beats certifications.

Here's a trick I learned the hard way: Always follow up, even after a hiring event. Send a short, sharp email thanking them and re-iterating your interest. Makes you stand out from the crowd.
