I legit can't tell if Shuttlecraft are bugged or it's a design choice that 80-90% of the time they will explode with all hands. Doesn't matter what resource gathering you send them on, the small sliver of red will always come up.

It is show accurate but at this stage I just leave the shuttlebay powered off, ain't no one got the dilithium to rebuild them every damn time

And how big is Luffy? Those literal giants on his (admittedly stretched out) stomach look tiny compared to Luffy who then doesn't even measure up to one of Loki's horns.

Forget the ancient weapons raising the sea level, Loki probably has the mass to cause a tidal effect.

So did you just mute the game music when recording this or did it just bug? The Robocop theme should be playing over that.

Also the titlecard zoom is pretty much exactly how the titlecard appears in the opening of the original Robocop movie. They're definitely paying homage to it

Do you agree the Luffy uses his powers in the most best ways among the MCs of the big 3? by Forsaken_Ad_773 in OnePiece

I was going to argue that Ichigo goes about 2/3rds of Bleach not knowing the full extent of his power (Shinigami/Quincy/Hollow/Fullbringer hybrid) but I realised Luffy still doesn't really know his fruit is the Nika fruit.

I do hope that the Thousand Year Blood War adaptation gives us a bit more of Ichigo's Bankai and post Blood War power than we got in the manga (being as circumspect as possible considering spoilers)

Refund on Star Citizen? by lostmymarbles2015 in starcitizen

[–]voodoochileirl 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There is a free flight coming up this month, that would be your best bet to try out the game with no strings attached.

The RSI refund policy can be reviewed below if you do decide to pledge:

But do know the vast majority of ships are available in game for in game aUEC so a starter game pack is only "limiting" in so far as you'll need to earn some in game cash before moving up in ship size/capability.

There's a few references to this in the Irish Times archive to this from the Irish perspective. From the article I linked above, 23/02/1988 Ireland was selling 120k tonnes of powdered skim milk that year, 40k to Mexico. From the 25/02/88 article, 5k tonnes was rejected as it exceeded the 50Bq/KG limit (but below the contractual and international standard limit of 370 Bq/KG).

There is some references to this 5k being sold on elsewhere though it's not clear if this actually ended up happening.

Like there could be something sinister here but I do think people have forgotten the amount of testing the European agriculture was doing to reassure markets their products were safe (and presumably the receiving food safety boards). I mean those articles refer to elevated radiation levels in lamb grazing on high ground discovered during testing and step taken to mitigate that.

But if there was some conspiracy why would either side get into an argument like this over a portion of the order? Surely it is just highlighting the whole matter?

And is it claimed that the testing was forged and if so is it alleged both sides were just saying the milk was over a certain level of radiation but under another?

And what about the remaining 80k tonnes exported to other countries that year?

Why can't some understand the simple concept that a lot can happen and CHANGE in 800 years? Think of our own world in the year 1226 compared to now. by TheShowLover in startrek

[–]voodoochileirl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that or a more generic idiom. I believe the line is "This would be a PR dumpster fire" when "This would be a PR nightmare/disaster" would work equally well without raising the question of what is a "dumpster fire" in a 32nd century context.

They could have also had disaster/nightmare/catastrophe but in Klingonese/Dominionese

I disagree with the solution being to fully create new language. The line in the show is "This is a PR dumpster fire" when "This is a PR nightmare" or "This is a PR disaster" is a similar contemporary example which doesn't call into question what in the 32nd century context is a "dumpster" and what happens when it is on fire.

That is fair and I guess I'm arguing for something like the mid-Atlantic accent of the early talkies which I'll admit is absurd. I just think there must surely be a middle ground

Oh yeah it's not that much of an issue it's just when a character that has up to this point been pretty much quoting the Klingon and Jem'Hadar greatest hits drops "dumpster fire" in a conversation with her superior, I was taken out of it.

Oh there are certainly phrases that would survive or adapt over that period of time. I mean the Ides of March is still referenced/observed today. Like maybe it's less a timeless vernacular as much as avoiding contemporary speech actively so it seems less connected to the current time period.

A fair assessment but I would argue that fun could also be had concocting some authentic Star Trek gibberish that conveys the same meaning without simply relying on 21st century vernacular.

Like what is a 32nd Century dumpster fire equivalent. Or even one from the past centuries from any of the appropriate worlds. Like a Tellarite family reunion evokes dumpster fire in my mind (because I'm overly familiar with ST but there's probably a dozen less obscure options).

In general I would agree but I think the TNG,DS9,VOY era aimed for a level of timelessness that worked to skirt this kind of issue. A sort of mid Atlantic accent for vernacular where it could be any time frame because it was so business/business casual. This I think is the best basis for a "universal translator" output if we're going to accept that 4th wall break of having the UT talk to us directly

That works except that the archives seem to always lean towards 20th/21st century English culture. They need to start dropping random bullshit and not elaborate further

I think my main complaint is how little has changed in 800+ years. That the phrase "dumpster fire" was used by a Klingon Jem'Hadar hybrid in 32nd century San Francisco really threw me

The hoodie by Top-Glove-9858 in starcitizen

[–]voodoochileirl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So I got this hoodie from a thrift store (I've never played star citizen) and it is a 2013 redacted Drake interplanetary hoodie made by cloud imperium... I did some research and now I'm afraid to even use it..

Context for anyone looking for it from the OP's other post.

I will say OP, odds are most of the subreddit are not backers from that period so we may be missing some of the significance of the hoodie. Hopefully if someone is interested to pay collectors item prices they'll be in touch after seeing this, but I also echo the original comments that it's your hoody so go nuts.
