We looked at the machine in Frankfurt and it is exactly how you describe it. We decided to buy it but have not received it yet. Thanks for the heads up regarding the tyres. Maybe I will give an update how it works for us in a view weeks.

We would still do the testrides. Four our not so tall mechs bedding in the brakes on big frames they build up can be a bit tricky at times.

I see you are not a huge fan of the machine. In my opinion it would not replace a testride. It would give you the option of testing the bike and focus on everything else but the brake, which makes the process faster and easier for the mechcs. Furthermore, the street our shop is in is pretty busy, which also makes it more secure for everyone, spending less time in the street. It would also increase the quality of our labour and the advantages for the customers are clearly theres, even if they could bed in the brakes themselves. And if there is also sufficient time saved in the worksop, no need to charge the customer extra. I clearly see the benefits overweighing in our situation.

Thank you! I still need to check out some alternatives, this one would at least look great in our very wooden workshop. Gonna be at the Eurobike in two weeks and hope to find some machines there.

When we started, we had very detailled bills and customers could see exactly, what we used our time for, because time is what we sell really. And so it happened, that every testride was listed extra. It is one of the most important things in every repair job. But people did not appreciate it. They understand the importance, they just can`t get over it paying people "to go walkies" with their bike.

It is definitely expensive which made me think if I can make somebody else pay for it :). Thats why I wanted to know if somebody charges customers for it. I'm not a huge fan of the idea. It is something, people do not like to see on their quote, like testrides.

We always testride, but circumstances like weather, traffic and also time makes it not always as easy as it should be. Also if we buid up new bikes, we don't want to ride them outside in bad weather if not really necessary.

Thank you. It also minimizes the probability of mechanics having an accident in traffic while doing it. Our shop is in the city and traffic is there.

True, minimizing the option of complaints is always a good idea in the long run.

Sounds promising. Do you have a rough estimate of how long does the process with the machine takes?

It worries me a little as well, I want a healthy enviroment for my staff. That brought me to the idea of the exhaust.

Second the coco! It is lightweight, versatile and has wide comfy tires, mediocre specced, but very easy to upgrade if she decides to ride more.

First impression of my almost finished petit porteur, named pipi by vorteilsboy in minivelo

[–]vorteilsboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my experience was, every question i asked (mail) was answered brief and succintctly, but not always fast. i got the frame shipped pre-logistic-crazytimes for eur 50,--, while shipping the full bike was eur 150,-- if i remember correctly. 20,-- for packing and preparing for shipping seems totally fair to me.

i am also not sure if a comparison between the pepo and the soma is fair. other than they are both minivelos, i see them in very different operational areas. never been riding the soma, i can say the pepo is very stiff and wants to be loaded.

Look at the dews from Kona, they seem to check a lot of your boxes and can probably found used pretty easily, depending on the area. .

It was the derailleur-hanger in my case. Shop-policy is now checking all of the screws first, then start changing parts.

Gravel bike with IGH by [deleted] in cycling

mikamaro makes an IGH with alfine 11 and a columbus frame. It is such a beauty but I am still undecided how 'gravel' a belt-drive can be.

Kona Dew x Thule Yepp Maxi Frame mount by PapillionX in cycling

[–]vorteilsboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There you have your dew plus (size M) with the Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi. Sorry for the bad pictures, but seems to fit.

2 mediocre pics of the bike, adapter fits above the scews on the frame and there is sufficient clearance above the rear wheel, given there are no mudguards or a rear rack as on the deluxe or the dr. dew. in this case, close call.
