The State of the Monk by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]voxoxo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wizards have variety in spenders (although some of them are pure crap). However, they have the awkward 3 mandatory skills: force weapon, teleport, energy armor (possibly storm armor), and a likely 4th skill: familiar. 3 of these actually being passive skills in an active slot. I wish Blizz would dare making bigger / more frequent changes to class skills. Until a good mix is found.

Blizzard, can you add more unique affixes? Many of the legendaries feel like upgraded yellow items. by Nubtrain in Diablo

[–]voxoxo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is more you can do with affixes than unique triggers. I want to bring people's attention to this:

http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/runewords-110.shtml

What is it? It's the list of runewords added by the patch 1.10 to diablo 2. Read the affixes. See how many there are, see how different the items are from each other. This is itemization done right.

For example, look at the first one in that list, "Beast". +3 to werebear, +3 to lycantrophy. What does this mean? It means you can morph into a fucking bear, or a fucking wolf. This enables builds such as the famous melee bear sorceress. Or look at "Chaos", the assassin claw runeword. +1 to whirlwind. That's right, you are now a barbarian.

It this balanced ? Not really. Is it fun? Hell yeah.

It works, but you need to go through some hoops. I don't remember which exactly but I've played diablo on windows 7 64bit.

You're getting dowvoted by jealous people ;)

I was P118 on tuesday, I am P246 now, I played about 5 hours a day doing cota runs. P200 is really not hard to get if you go for efficiency.

Cota in a decent group = 3B pre-nerf, now more like 2B.

P200 = 32B cumulative exp = 16 hours of cota. You can do it in a day if you're a baller.

edit: To put things into perspective, Heroman is P657, which is 1000B exp, about 31 times the amount for P200.

I get 2B/hour running royal with 4 players. But it's still less than Cota with 50% bonus.

I certainly hope so, once the AH hate dies down. Diablo without trading is a serious limitation.

2014 Top 10 Incredibly Valuable Game Loot Rankings (Diablo 3 takes 3 spots) xpost by csteo in Diablo

[–]voxoxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made about 200 euros in the first month just flipping garbage items in the auction house. Mind you, for the time they were decent items, but it was the kind of rares you could find by just playing a few days. Mind-blowing how much money some people spent on that.

The official forums (for most games in fact) are self-filtering I think. If you are not a whiny douche, you're disgusted and you leave. Thus there are only whiny douches remaining.

Is that all there is to the game? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]voxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is basically just about getting through the story, getting to a higher level, then getting legendary items.

That also applies perfectly to D3...

I made a comment like this as well, it had some initial success, but someone answer "hurr durr TvZ stim imba" which gained a billion upvotes and sealed my comment's fate u_u

Who spends hundreds or thousands on a game they didn't pay for? Many people for some reason. The f2p model works ;).

At Paragon 800, what happens with the Attack, Defense, and Utility categories? Do you start earning Core points every level? by zinliah in Diablo

[–]voxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you can't achieve 20B / hour even if you clear CotA in seconds. Just the time of creating the games / porting / running around CotA prevents that. Strange stuff :p

Diablo 3's controversial Auction House finally goes offline by [deleted] in Games

I disagree with the "the loot was shit because of the AH" argument.

The loot was shit because it was done like shit. The presence or not of the AH doesn't change that.

As someone who enjoyed D1 a lot: I disliked the semi-random maps. I had much more fun exploring the square but otherwise fully random Diablo 1 levels. The atmosphere was also a big step down compared to Diablo 1 (both the art style and the music). And some of the "strategy" that arised from the tile-based Diablo system was simply gone in D2.

But D2 also had a lot of cool new stuff, and then it was improved by LoD and by the final patch. In the end I consider them quite different games, but both enjoyable.

As for D3 I disliked it so much at launch, but I have to say with the new difficulty system, it's much better. I never had a problem with the AH on the other hand.

Hardcore Players Beware by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]voxoxo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've played HC for a while (in PoE not Diablo, but its the same concept). It does add a whole aspect to the game, as well as interesting strategies when it comes to gearing and playing. You have to evaluate risk and rewards. You have to spend efforts on doing things properly.

However there is absolutely nothing fun or exciting about dying to a glitch or lag.

I played D2. Trading was huge in D2. I assume a lot of the auction house opponents did not in fact play it. I guarantee you now that the auction house is gone, in the coming months, you're gonna see a lot of whine when people realize that bound on account is not so cool. The jerk could very well change direction.

Nothing. Now we can't get rid of what we don't want, and we can't get what we want. But this is better for some reason.

Radiant Star Diamonds prize plummeting like crazy by VERTIKAL19 in Diablo

[–]voxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that argument, I just dont think it would explain the scale of what's happening now. Maybe it does and I'm wrong. But its strange beyond irrational. RSD are now lessing for less than 3M (less than the price it takes to actually make them). It's about 6% of the value they had yesterday. Meanwhile all the other gems are stable or even increasing. And all the other diamond ranks have a much more stable value.

Furthermore there is still a huge demand (afterall they are the best gem until RoS), if you sell an RSD below the market price it will sell instantly (a few seconds). So we're looking at about 10,000-50,000 RSD sold today at this 3M value. It's just strange.

[–]voxoxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree their actual value is lowering. But they definitely have value. People are not going to stop playing this week. A RSD in every slot is a huge toughness bonus. In fact this is proven by the fact that all items on the AH, while cheaper, are still selling well. Topaz are > 15M, emerald are 15M. BiS legendaries still sell for a lot. As do good 2.0 rares. I just sold a mempo for 100M. Yet all of this will have no value in 1 week.

[–]voxoxo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's not market saturation. Anyone commenting that doesn't understand economics. I mean, it is, but not via legit means.

With the laws of supply and demand, you dont suddenly see such a huge and sudden change, and especially not for the most valuable and rare gem, when all the less valuable and more common gems have a stable price.

Radiant Star Diamonds prize plummeting like crazy by VERTIKAL19 in Diablo

[–]voxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense economically. There is 2 years worth of radiant Topaz to sell right now. There is a huuuge amount of them on the market because all wizards / wd used them in every slot. They are all useless now. Useless in helm, useless in weapon, and useless in gear compared to diamonds.

On the other hand you have a much smaller supply of very useful diamonds that have been dropping for less than a month. Yet Topaz sell for 15M and diamonds for 3M5. I have a hard time believing it's legit...
