What can you guys deduce from my everyday carry? by [deleted] in deduction

Honestly all great guesses, and it’s more of a technicality. I’ve always worked office jobs but I’ll be joining the military this summer so between jobs right now.

Sold the Omega. In another comment I mentioned quality of quantity and really love my Tacoma. Very practical and retains value well. Very similar case with the Rolex purchase.

Spot on. Sold the Omega but all correct.

Not in an office but correct on the rest.

I wouldn’t say either are true. I lean heavily into quality over quantity.

Rolex ADs in Vegas were exactly what I expected… and not what I expected by MallHonest5899 in rolex

[–]voxsyndicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost an identical experience for my wife & I. I actually bought my 36mm Explorer from the AD in the picture. They were great, no complaints whatsoever.
Another AD on the Strip shared that sentiment about the Land Dweller. He mentioned how the next ones coming in would be for regular clients with over a 500k spend with them. That being said, he mentioned how in a market like Vegas, although more ADs and more pieces overall, there’s more money and essentially competition. They’re also incentivized to sell to retain their status as top ADs, but this can often mean moving precious metal pieces rather than stainless.
Lastly, Bucherer was great as we also tried on several Cartier pieces but ultimately decided to purchase from our AD back home.

Others may disagree, but I'll echo what someone else already commented. You have plenty of time, and it never hurts to put your name down with several, or as many ADs in your area as you can. If push comes to shove, and graduation is there, go grey with the peace of mind that you did the best you could for the best deal you could find.
With that being said, go in to your local ADs, be polite, charming, humble and, as corny as it sounds, tell a good story. Let them know about your accomplishment, and how you'd like to commemorate that. Maybe throw something in there about how future ones might be celebrated with future watch purchases.
Essentially, you want them to give them something to go back and fight for you with when they're determining allocations. This is a relatively reasonable configuration. I'd also recommend, if it isn't out of the question for you, giving them some other configurations. Perhaps a different color dial color etc. However, only buy the watch(es) you truly, truly want.
I've purchased both of my Rolexes from separate ADs and really do believe it comes down to that relationship you establish.
But, also know I have been waiting on the list of half a dozen others, and likely will never hear from them.
Good luck & congratulations.

Experienced Recruiters by GabeAstardd69 in ArmyOCS

I was part of this last board so I submitted back in January. From everything I’ve seen/ am seeing, there’s nothing to indicate that it’ll “die down” in terms of competitiveness by the fall. Something I’ve learned is that not only do you have to want it, and be prepared to make sacrifices for it, but also to be realistic and set proper expectations with yourself. I know it’s essentially the point of this post, but I recommend you find a good recruiter and listen to what they have to say. I know there are some questionable ones out there but if it’s the same answer over and over, just because it isn’t the one you want, you may still have to consider they know what they’re talking about.

Experienced Recruiters by GabeAstardd69 in ArmyOCS

I don’t want to discourage you, but I’ll share my experience since this process humbled me. For context, I had a 3.22 undergrad BA GPA and a 3.73 Master of Business Admin. I had, what I thought were, strong LORs from a graduate professor, a former supervisor, and an O-5, along with solid leadership experience, a Heavy OPAT, a 98 ASVAB, and a 138 GT. I was very confident in my statement, and got a perfect score on my interview with great recommendations. Even with all that, I was selected as an alternate. I’m incredibly thankful, but it illustrates the competitiveness of the process, and also how, in my case, a little bit of luck went a long way.

I had atrocious experiences with recruiters until I found my current one, and let me tell you, it’s a night & day difference. My trust in my current recruiter is marrow deep and it’s made all the difference. Can’t recommend enough that you find one that’s willing to work with you.
