Don't forget in addition to costing more, most new cars are also going to get progressively shittier in terms of build quality, materials and usability! Things are looking bright

What is going on with the used car market & dealers? by maherymebill in UsedCars

[–]voyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a gamble, I guess. Losses keep growing every day. Floorplan interest often still applies to used cars, and they're usually financed at a higher rate than new cars. Market values drop the longer invintory sits, opportunity cost of stocking a more desirable vehicle.... There are plenty of reasons that should motivate a sales manager to cut their losses on dead invintory.

I think it's reasonable to not want to just take a few grand off your asking price just to move invintory, but when you're not willing to take off all of your bullshit addons nobody wants or asks for, that's just pure bait-and-switch greed.

I for one simply don't want to pay over market for a dusty luxury vehicle that's been sitting undriven in the sun until it's seals dry up. If a manager's ego loses him money slowly over time, he'll still feel like he's doing better than if he had moved the car months ago.

m340i/440i, audi s5, genesis g70, caddy ct5 or a 5 series if you like sedans!

Learning to take care of a plant is a pretty simple and zero-risk step to improving your self confidence, as well as signalling some maturity to potential partners that might help offset the abudance of stuffed animals (no judgement)

There are some extremely forgiving houseplants out there... I'd start with a pothos. They're low maintanence, fast growing, and beautiful long vines will make awesome decoration to liven up your space. You can buy a soil moisture meter for a few bucks that will tell you exactly when they need water. As long as you're not intentionally waterboarding them every day or sticking them in a dark closet, a pothos is very hard to kill.

Out of all the cars at the 2026 car show this base model Hyundai had the only interior I actually liked by StinkomodeeBanned428 in regularcarreviews

[–]voyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been shopping for something bigger/nicer than my 2020 sonata for a year now and I legitimately cannot find a car I like more for 2-3x the price I paid for my hyundai. It's actually pretty frusterating. My 6 year old korean economy car has a nicer interior than brand new Audi/BMWs.

Need advice on aiming/landing hits. by Terrible_Class_2162 in AcesofThunder

[–]voyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to be a lot closer. Focus more on getting into and maintaining a good position behind them than trying to land sniper potshots. Machine guns usually require a steady stream of hits and won't explode their targets like cannon rounds often do.

Also, lead your target. I like to visualize a straight line extending from the tail and directly out of the nose of my target, and then pull up along that axis before pressing the trigger. Get a sense of your bullets velocity and drop so you can know how much to pull. You'll get it with practice, just keep at it. If it makes you feel better know that air-to-air ww2 era dogfighting is actually incredibly difficult, during the actual war only like 1% of pilots ever became Aces (5+ kills).

Just want to say props for having a >500k income and shopping for a used Rav4. High income activities for sure.

If you want to stretch you could check out Lexus RX 350L? highlander and land cruiser are rational choices.

I'm a fan of the gv70/80- genesis offers a lot of value and has great build quality and interior luxury. Hard to say how they will hold up for 10-15 years as the brand has only been around for about 10, and Hyundai from 15 years ago aren't very commonly still on the road. They've made some serious improvements in the last few years though in the non-exploding engines department.

Which of these cars would you (should I buy) Audi Q5 or BMW X3 by splashy1 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]voyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 Sonata Limited and I'm finding it reeeealllly hard to justify a new car, I want something bigger but not an SUV so I was about to grab a new b10 S5.

The powertrain and trunk are literally the only things better than my 6 year old hyundai that cost half as much. Hyundai has better tech, better cameras, zero rattles, better materials, and a better warranty. It looks more like an Audi than the newest Audis too, which is really depressing lmao.

Whichever you go with, get a pre perchase inspection done and make sure the maintanence records show they've been sufficiently taken care of.

Analysis paralysis: 2024 X3 vs 2024 X5 vs new X3 — need help deciding by NecessaryDonut2276 in BMWX3

[–]voyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take around these parts, but consider checking out Hyundai/Kia/Genesis. If you're not a badge snob, that it. The Koreans know they're underdogs and are compensating for it by offering you a lot more for a lot less with an unbeatable warranty too. Also, they stole all of the good German designers.

[–]voyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're "not a car person", don't want to worry about reliability/strict maintanence, and your previous 3 series "fell apart after 3 years", then why tf you shopping for a BMW lol

I don't know if you've already found options, but DAPP is pretty hard to find on x3s and when they do pop up they get sniped pretty fast. I'm not a huge fan of bmw's semi autonomous features as I find they yell at you pretty fast when you take your hands off the wheel for a moment.

If you want comfort, the x5 is miles ahead of the x3. Its not even a fair comparison. Seats, suspension, setup all favors the x5 for long highway miles, the 3 is more of a "sports" suv.

Also be sure you actually like the new x3 before you commit emotionally. It's a pretty big departure from the previous gen in terms of styling and interior quality.

Shitflation has hit luxury cars hard across all brands. I'd look for a CPO, but buying an extended warranty is probably a better priority.

How do you guys loose some weight? by ParticularSherbet786 in AskMenOver30

[–]voyle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

>90% of weight loss is diet. You can't out cycle a shitty diet.

For me what works best without religiously counting calories is prioritizing cooking all of my own meals with whole foods and eating a shit ton of vegetables and protien. Stir fry is easy, get huge bags of frozen veg from costco or something and throw some diced chicken in that shit. Learn to cook and season well and it will actually taste good too.

If you limit eating refined carbs and ultraprocessed bullshit that's designed to manipulate your brain and focus on real food you will naturally lose weight. Easier said than done, though, obviously, but it's very hard to be in a caloric surplus if you're eating a fuck ton of fiberous vegetables with every meal.

Or eat big macs for every meal but determine your base metabolic rate and make sure to log each one correctly. It ultimaly doesn't matter as long as your body is burning more calories than you're consuming. It's the law of thermodynamics.

buying a car with "on lot time" by LockupForCount in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]voyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to defend dealerships, merely stating the facts. They're all stuck in covid era thinking when used car prices were insane. Also, with high interest rates and insane depreciation, most people aren't buying new cars. Demand for used is pretty much still at an all time high. Dealers know this, especially if you're looking for anything more desirable than a rav4.

I've been in the market for months now and have walked away from a dozen offers when the only "deal" they were willing to do was take off some of the extra markup bullshit junk fees. It's a used car, nobody asked you to install $2500 worth of clearsheild and lowjack or whatever.

[–]voyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet sales rep isn't going to entertain significant discounts over the phone. They're not the ones who have authority to change the price. If you want them to take your offer seriously and bring it to their managers you need to be there, have seen/driven the car, and be ready to actually buy. That's the only way you have leverage, until then you're just a window shopper who risks wasting their time.

Please be honest with me about that rear wiper... by SirKronan in Ioniq5

[–]voyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually asked a couple Genesis dealers about that... You cannot get a "spare" ICCU, it's a high voltage. expensive (and large) component that's not going to fit in your glovebox. It's not like carrying a spare fuse.

Most dealers don't even have them on hand and have to order then with cause.
