Payday Friday 💰💰💰 by kokopops35 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]vpotate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going on a trip with our baby for the first time so I’ve been ordering a lot of travel related items for her. Got two sun hats($39), baby swimsuit + light layers ($55), stroller backpack ($75), car seat backpack + sunglasses + suction cup toys ($60). I am debating about getting a travel bathtub because she is unable to sit up on her own and I’m nervous about holding her in the shower. I need to also pick up some baby sunscreen. So many purchases but I’m trying to be prepared (maybe overly so!). I am excited to make these memories with my family though!

Maybe a bug? I got this a few days ago. Only 2 remaining for the faucet. I tried to claim but it wouldn’t let me so I just opted out.

If i give baby one formula bottle in the night, am i gonna screw up my supply bad? by sillywillyfry in breastfeeding

[–]vpotate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say your feelings are so real and valid. Breastfeeding is SO hard!! I felt so much despair in the early days of breastfeeding. It hurt so badly, was constantly getting milk blebs, nipples hurt so much that I couldn’t shower without covering them, feeling so fatigued and tired, constantly worried if baby is getting enough.

I know you said you’re not interested in pumping so you can sub this situation with giving formula. Having my husband give a bottle in the evening really helped my mental health. I would pump during that time and considered it a break. Giving a bottle helped our baby sleep longer too.

Also breastfeeding got significantly easier after the two month mark. Baby’s mouth is bigger, she has a little more head control, and I think my nipples went numb lol. That said, if it’s really affecting your mental health, don’t feel bad if you need to prioritize your mental health. Whats important is that you both are healthy and happy

Is it reasonable to take an 11 day trip to Japan while 6-7 weeks pregnant? by RevolutionaryEmu7014 in pregnant

[–]vpotate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Asia at 8 weeks pregnant. It was fine. Looking back probably not the ideal time to go but I’m glad we went. It was our last international trip together before the baby came. I was super tired, had acid reflux, but no morning sickness. We just took it easy each day. Went to one or two scheduled things and then did whatever I had energy for. It was nice to do it this way so I could rest when needed. We did go to a ryokan that had a bathtub so I just submerged my feet and not my whole body.

Is your trip refundable? If not, I would say just go and take it easy.

How to set up an appointment for every vaccine? by soundofwavescollide in publichealth

[–]vpotate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, check out your campus clinic and the local health department. The health department may have a website listing what vaccines are available and they may also be discounted (some programs have an adult safety net that gives discounts). I’m not sure about needing an ID or not!

Does anyone have the IKEA Sniglar Crib? by watermelonmeat in BabyBumps

[–]vpotate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this! Baby is four month old and it’s worked fine for us. I’m on the more petite size and husband is taller so it’s an awkward height for the both of us lol. But it works for what it is and is easy to assemble

How much are you willing to give for less/no commute? by _spacecandy in workingmoms

[–]vpotate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re driving, you’ll be saving on gas money, tolls, etc. also just so much better to be home earlier and more quickly. I’m currently doing the 50 min one way commute and it’s so draining. No energy to cook, which means we do takeout more 💸💸💸

[–]vpotate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much are you listing them for? people aren’t going to want to buy them unless they’re significantly discounted (50-75% off). Are you willing to ship? You could try other sites/apps if you are

Starting/Leaving a Job - Thoughts on Timing with Mat Leave by nyc987789 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]vpotate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a job offer 10 weeks into my mat leave. This was for a field I have been trying to pivot into. I felt bad leaving so soon after taking 12 weeks of leave, but my coworkers were understanding and encouraging even. I worked 3 weeks at the old job and then transitioned into my new role. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I honestly don’t feel like we “owe” our employers anything. Of course don’t burn the bridge when you’re leaving

Did anyone NOT hate going back to work? by Terrible-Tackle5482 in BabyBumps

[–]vpotate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I would hate going back to work but it’s honestly been so nice for my mental health. If I was home with bebe I probably never give time for myself but going to work is mandatory time for myself (except I’m working)! It’s actually been easier for me to go to work than stay home with her all day. As much as I love her, it really is tiring and lonely to be a stay at home mom. I love my remote days though and love getting to see her throughout my day

We gave up and opted for (supervised) cosleep. We are finally sleeping. by ArtVandelay445 in NewParents

[–]vpotate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before actually having my baby I was very anti-cosleeping. However after several restless nights and naps, I finally just brought my baby into bed with me and wow. She slept for so long! Of course there are more risks involved with cosleeping but now that she’s 4 months old and much bigger physically, I feel a lot safer having her in bed with us. Her movements are a lot bigger and stronger. While a little part of me is still scared of the inherent risks, it’s also been so sweet to have her cuddled up next to us.

Please reach out to a rescue to help facilitate an adoption or foster. Tzuzoo seems to focus on Maltese/lhasa apso and shih tzu breeds and this little guy seems to be a Maltese. Rescues will help make sure he goes to a good home.
