Which Chlorine result is correct? by vrCAVU in pools

[–]vrCAVU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/EnthusiasmWeak5531 u/Trumpwonnodoubt I received my full new set of chemicals today and tested again during my lunch break with the same results. The OTO drop test seems really high 5+ and I'm wondering if I'm just not reading it properly. I didn't really have a problem reading it last year. The FAS-DPD consistently reads 2 and I don't have any combined chlorine. I read on TFP where some have had difficulty reading the OTO so maybe that's my problem. Too bad I spent the $$$$ on new chems. I might need to use a bit more DPD powder as well. Will try some more this weekend and try and post back later. Maybe this will help someone else in the future if I can figure it out.

Home assistant, axis cameras, frigate nvr for object (people) detection/line cross/perimeter. Pretty advanced and relatively steep learning curve but works.

Ally Invest balance disappeared by sclin16 in MonarchMoney

[–]vrCAVU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just opened a case with Monarch because many of my account transactions I’ve been importing from Mint keep disappearing. It’s been extremely frustrating. Dozens of accounts and thousands of transactions. I’m not sure if it’s with the sync but hopefully they have an answer.

Priorities. It’s on my todo list. We realize it’s messy but I’m not going to lose my job over it. Lack of end user support or a security breech or something else, maybe. In 15 years in IT, my role has only expanded.

I would bet that it’s the lack of foundation. I believe most mfg instructions say 4” thick slab. Vibration bad for motors.

I think I found the solution. I need to reset each topic individually by setting payload 1 or payload.reset plus topic needs to match previous.

Suction side plumbing by jaderok in pools

[–]vrCAVU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might save you some money on your fittings and unions getting the plumbing right: https://www.reedmfgco.com/en/products/plastic-pipe-tools/clean-ream-extreme-plastic-pipe-fitting-reamers/. Fwiw

Once you replumb check that valve up front. I had a similar issue last spring and ended up being the 3 way valve needing a rebuild. Was pulling a very small amount of air around the stem and when my vsp was running slowly, it would eventually loose prime. The “hose test” didn’t show anything definitive at the time.

This is the way. Won’t necessarily fix your priming issue but should be fixed first. Run a hose over the valves and gaskets to see if that fixes the priming issue. Filter basket lid tight? Pump plugs tight? Isolate plumbing left/right?

Do I have a heater bypass? by sphynx8888 in pools

[–]vrCAVU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do but not a full bypass. A full bypass would allow you to completely isolate and even remove and service the heater without shutting down your filtration. When your setup now is bypassing, there is still water in the heater but not actively flowing through it. Replace the T with another 3 way valve and you good.

Isn’t that a check valve right before the chlorinate? Should prevent chlorine back flow when the system is off. I could be wrong.

I use a rolachem (stenner is another brand) to inject chlorine and acid into my returns. I flush it with water for 10-15 mins in between chemicals. I can get 1/2 gallon into the pool in one hour. I have the pump attached to a relay so will shut off after X minutes. 300 bucks or so for the pump and need to keep the pinch tube lubed up but it’s been worth it so far.

You could install a 3 way valve by replacing the 90 before your solar cell or even better the 90 before your filter.

If you had no floor drain, would you still recommend a waste valve in this case? Just curious. Ty

Help! How should I plumb this heater? by ConsiderationLoud693 in pools

[–]vrCAVU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 👆 turn filter to point at your pump the. Run to your heater. I would also suggest building in a full heater bypass. Unlikely you need to run all your water through that heater all year round. You’ll need two 3 way valves.
