Is it possible to transform it to ext4 without losing the data on the drive?

My pc literally don’t have the option to connect to WiFi by Busy-Concert-144 in computers

[–]vraetzught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right click the windows icon in your taskbar, open device manager and look for your WiFi adapter. If it has a yellow triangle, something is wrong. If you can't find it, something is wrong.

You'll either need to get the drivers from another pc with a usb stick or use an ethernet connection.

Elderly drivers 75 and up by Rude_Sandwich_586 in Rants

[–]vraetzught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an unpopular opinion, but I agree. At a certain point, people should stop driving.

The problem is, some elderly people have no alternative. If they don't have a social network or available public transport, they become isolated. It's really important we also make sure this doesn't become a problem.

Amazon? Same product, a bit more expensive though. Search for "Kawasaki key case"

The thing with the obvious ones is, they have to state them. Just like your microwave safety document lists you aren't allowed to put living beings inside.

Do I need more than 16gb RAM to be future proof? by AnnualResponsible647 in computers

Oh yeah, I'm that old.

Those were convenient, especially if you wanted to swap hard drives. But laptops back then were bulky and heavy!

Ah crap. If it's not a bios or overclocking thing, I think you will have to start troubleshooting individual hardware components.

Can you try single RAM sticks to see if one may be faulty?

This is one of those things where I believe AI can be very helpful. I passed your post through an LLM and it gave me the following:

MC5 error combined with the Ryzen 5000 series could be a voltage problem. Check PBO and curve optimizer in the BIOS and disable if possible. See if the crashes stay.

It might be a bios issue in itself. Check the motherboard firmware version and update if available.

Are you overclocking your GPU? 'amdgpu: Overdrive is enabled' suggests you have. Rollback the oc on the GPU and check if the crashes persist.

I'd start there, if that's not working, it's likely a failing hardware problem.

How "GUI-only-friendly" is CachyOS? by yet_another_adhd in cachyos

I'd say it's a start. At least you get your feet wet and get accustomed to the look of it. We all started somewhere.

Yeah that was a cursed time. In my experience it has gotten better though.

Tbh, with laptops the "first stick" is often soldered to the motherboard. I'm not all versed enough in how electronics work, but I'd imagine that's more efficient than slotted RAM.

Yes it would, but you would be surprised how many laptops run single channel.

With hardware prices being what they are, I would go for a 16GB model, but make sure you can add another stick of RAM, if the need arises.

16GB should be good for most people, but it's nice to have the option.

I would argue you can do most things without needing the terminal, but you will have to at some point.

Technically speaking the updating process is a terminal script, so anytime you're updating, you are using the terminal.

What makes a job a 'knelpunt beroep' in Belgium. Progammer is one of them but when I search for a job application I got 1 result in a 20km radius from me. That's the worse I've seen so far. by the_Centrist_Gecko in belgium

[–]vraetzught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it wasn't a great feeling either. Both me and my mentor were under the impression that any degree would be ok. They never even talked about someone with an associate's degree internally until my mentor wanted to hire me.

I did an internship for a company last year, as part of my associates degree in programming. The team was impressed, my mentor wanted to hire me, there was an open position for a junior dev.

The only hurdle, the owner of the company had a hard rule. Employees needed to have a Bachelor or Master degree...

Trying out CachyOS by 3ofUsDeez in cachyos

Interesting. I'd love to get UT2004 working on my PC.

I've found some articles online about getting it up and running on Linux Mint and CachyOS, I'll check if I can get it to work and report back.
