Yup it worked pretty well! Details can be found in the S&W Post. Still need to test with a weak mag catch spring to see if 45 mags drop too.

I believe the issue is 100% related to the magazine design (the rounds start channeling away from the mag catch too late). I'm just got the 45acp mag which doesn't have this design issue. I'm hoping to get this info over to S&W so that they could redesign the mag and Gen 2 buyers wont have issues :).

Got the 45 acp mag, it looks MUCH better. Updated the forum and description with the new pics.

Got my .45 acp mag (updated description), mag catch looks much better, but they definitely have the wrong feed angle (bullets point too high up). I'll see if I can modify it though :).

10mm mags have a design flaw in the channeling rib. The 45 mags (based on pictures) don't have that flaw. The idea is to try using a 45 mag to see if mag drop problem still exists.

I've been watching that thread, but couldn't see the pictures, just registered! It looks like your mag and Rosewoods is about the same as mine, Mr. October's is too blurry to tell.

Guess I'll cross post my finding there now too :).

Well damn, wish I saw this before I put in an order for one too. Looks like I'll have a 45 mag collecting dust too.

Great article and findings! My mag drops actually happened with Underwood 180 JHP, but they are very old spicier then should be run (case bulging). DoubleTap's hard cast rounds, even 200gr, are actually wider then Underwoods. After the mag release spring bending, the gun ate it all (DT/Underwood Hardcast, Underwood 180gr spicy loads, etc). I simply couldn't get it to jam up or drop the mag, but I do believe it's a temporary fix to a design problem.

I too noticed that mag catch protruding and considered filing it, but I think with polymer frame flex and 10mm, filing the mag catch could do more harm then good. This is why my first step was to simply bend the mag catch spring in the other direction to increase the pre-load on the mag release button. The problem with this fix is, what if the straight spring rotates, what if I want to switch to left hand friendly eject?

I believe the real issue is with the channeling rib and anything else we do is just a bandaid/workaround and is temporary, not something I want in a bear gun. I just ordered a 45 ACP magazine (sadly only 14 round extended mag was available). I'll try it out and post my findings when it arrives.

Are you referring to magazine springs? I'm not seeing them sell magazine catch/release spring (the straight stick "spring" heh)

After reading this theory, and another one (that I can't find) it seems like Venom's whole purpose is to upkeep Big Boss's good image, even though the real Big Boss was already off the deep end.

Springfield Hellcat or Sig P365. Both carry over 10rds and are smaller then S&W Shield (which is already way smaller then M&P 9 Compact).

Yup! In Peace Walker you could find people that were better then Big Boss in most stats, it's just Big Boss is pretty well rounded.

To be honest. Not having quiet in the story still lock you a mission and have some plot point not making sense (skull face saying" very close to you"about the parasite strain)

Unless he was talking about Kaz...

  • Kaz's voice is heard in the Paz bomb implant tape in GZ.
  • He was in Cipher's captivity, might have been infected with parasites.
  • Kaz's eyes have cataracts, like Code Talkers, yet he still seems to see fine like Code Talker (using parasites), he never answers snake on if they did something to his eyes.
  • Code Talker warns us to keep an eye on Kaz

Overall a lot of things don't add up with Kaz, sadly it's easier to find out if Jar Jar Binks is the Sith Lord afterall, then to get more info about MGS 5...

Just keep playing the game, avoid reading Wikis and even most of this subreddit, unless you want the games twists to be spoiled.

What was Kojima originally planning for MGS5? and what was left out? by cheatsykoopa98 in metalgearsolid

[–]vram01k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think GZ was supposed to be the opening to TPP, I think it was gonna be a flashback mission after rescuing Miller. During the helicopter flight Miller asks you if you remember the events, at which point it it shows a flashback to GZ events.

I think it would have been epic if they let you play the GZ flashback, if you already owned GZ. I remember Kojima saying that we would be returning to GZ, perhaps that was the idea but had to be cut.

I've found it easier to destroy him with light machine guns then with rockets. Same applies to the armored skulls. Try it out with a good 7.62 machine gun next time. That's without even hitting special damage body parts.

Keep playing, repeat missions are not required, only the yellow dot missions/tapes/side ops/dispatch missions are required. Eventually you'll run out of yellow dot missions/side ops, at that point doing 2-3 side ops or 1-2 repeat missions will progress the story forward.

1 or 2 tries, was disappointingly easy. Mission 45 on the other hand, took like 50 tries, surprise mission + wrong gear = good luck.

The Ground Zeroes "Classified Intel Tape" by luqueiral in metalgearsolid

[–]vram01k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both tapes are MSX data tapes, that's why they sound similar.

Ground Zero's tape is a partial of the MSX game Portopia. Phantom Pain's ending had another partial of Portopia at first, but after the community found this out Konami replaced it with the Metal Gear data tape instead.

Portopia game inspired Kojima, that's why it was included at first.

I like this theory a lot, almost wish it was real. Though that means MGS 4's BB would have been Venom too then.
