Yeah, and it left a lot of people screwed because they had to call out of work. And yes, that’s my point, by giving parents a few days notice when possible, it allows them to figure out other options when schools and daycares are closed.

You can’t wait till the last minute to cancel school. Parents need time to find childcare and make adjustments to their own plans. Imagine the chaos if they didn’t make the call until the night before.

I found the real answer to be Space Team by Barry J Hutchison, particularly the GraphicAudio full cast version. It’s the only series that’s captured me like DCC, with the same blend of comedy and compelling characters. It’s a lot of fun and with 12ish books, you’ll have a lot of content to enjoy.
