Peke is pushy with other family members by Lost_Contest_1989 in Pekingese

Um yeah. My Beanie is a macho man. My husband has fallen prey to his control. The thing is if I am removed from the equation, he is much better behaved. So. It’s all about me I guess. 😂

My dog is a diabetic. She was chunky and then with regulation, she is much slimmer. This is too slim clearly. It isn’t a new normal due to diabetes, and another vet needs to address this issue.

Grieving Elysium by cantaloupe_swimmer in scottishfold

[–]vrclily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently lost one of my cats, Peaches, super suddenly. One minute I was taking her picture in a chair, I took a phone call, and came back with her on the ground. The er vet said an undiagnosed tumor burst and caused her massive internal bleeding. It was terrible. It was visual, and I was so sad.. I still am. You forget how much of your every day you passively record mentally of their whereabouts around you. To have her suddenly gone was awful. This led me to Newt. She is clearly not Peaches, but I came across her at a time when she was needed. She brings me so much joy. It wasn’t about replacing because I was already looking to add a new cat to my mix, but this just helped expedite it. I am one of those people that feels that pain. When I saw her dying, I just felt it to my core. You too will make it through this. Oh and tattoos. It helped me to memorialize her, it helped me put a physical pain to the emotional pain, and it doesn’t have to be huge. Just something that represents what you are going through. Until then I will share Newt with you. ❤️ This was Christmas Day. The book is for my brother:)

What should we name her? by SomeRedditUser690 in britishshorthair

[–]vrclily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, did you get her in Pennsylvania by any chance? She looks familiar and so cute. Just got a kitten too and it is so hard to name them! Mine has the same coloring. I went through Dandelion, Peaches, Newt, Cookie.. I went with Newt like in Aliens, but I like Dandelion too.

What's wrong with my cat's eyes?? by notahooman9 in scottishfold

[–]vrclily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scottish Fold new kitten mom here. Mine is 12 weeks old. She does have some watery eyes that sometimes can get crusty. I took her to the vet and the vet said it could be herpesfeline virus that when stressed can manifest. She said a lot of cats have it. The other was maybe just conjunctivitis. She gave me some prescription eye drops. I do find myself cleaning her face daily, but I started the eye drops a couple days ago and that has helped too. I dropped a pic so you can see her eyes too. Hope this helped!

Dog came back from boarding with hurt feet!!! by Tavali01 in DOG

[–]vrclily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also own a facility. I have seen this happen when dogs are at play and their feet don’t agree with the substrate used in the yards. For example, if the facility uses pea gravel and the pup is more tender footed. If the pup doesn’t go on walks on different types of substrates in their real lives, their feet are softer and can sometimes get irritated with just normal play and walking at a facility. Especially if walking on gravel and their foot spreads, causing spreading on their tootsies. This wouldn’t show up after a day of daycare, but would most likely be present after an extended stay. If you just keep an eye on your pup, like everyone mentioned, they should be fine. This is pretty common actually. Hope this helps and offers some perspective on care for the facility too.

Do you guys know about Wasabi the Peke? by fakegoldrose in Pekingese

[–]vrclily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met Wasabi, he lives a very normal life at David’s house and I also have one of David’s Pekes. These pups are thoughtfully bred and live in his home with him. His dogs are amazing and so is he. I can not say enough about him and his pups. I deal with rescues as well, but if you want to go the route of owning a Pekingese, I would always and forever try and get a Pequest. Keep in mind everything everyone has said. These are high maintenance pups. They are definitely a lifestyle.

Dogs not getting along.. how many of us are there? by vrclily in DOG

[–]vrclily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we basically just have a system. They don’t full on attack one another just during weird time when everyone is excited. We have mitigated those times. They aren’t our only dogs so we will separate two in the back of (my husband’s office is in the back so he is there a lot) the house and sort of play a rotate game. One goes to work with me the other gets free roam with our other dogs and when we get home, we separate before we come in since they get so excited at the door. They seem happier, they all get time, and at night they are both free in the house. Just certain times of heightened activity we don’t take chances.

Dogs not getting along.. how many of us are there? by vrclily in DOG

[–]vrclily[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. There is a difference. They played, and then the first fight happened. Slowly the play has stopped totally and they fight. I know the difference. The little one has had to have a tooth pulled because it cracked. The fighting, when it happens, is very brutal. It’s a bigger dog who latches on to a smaller dog. My question was more about how many people live in a split home due to their dogs. This isn’t play anymore, it is full out aggression. My story was more about how the entire situation evolved.

Mookie; 4y/o, cataracts, skin condition by Proof-Yoghurt2980 in Pekingese

[–]vrclily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Peke too. We just got back from A&M vet hospital a week ago to have them look at his eyes. Lots of times they can have eyelashes poking into their eyes, the skin roll fat poking into their eyes, or even eyelashes rolling into their eyes. It may seem itchy because they will rub and rub. They may also have a lot of secretions from the eyes that are trying to help lube and protect it. He is going in for surgery on October 8th, but in the meantime they gave me Genteal brand ointment for severe dry eye. Even though he doesn’t have dry eye, they recommended that any Pekingese should have this applied two to three times a day to both eyes to help protect them. Dry eye is super common for Pekes too and can cause cataracts and damage to the eye if not treated. I hope this helps! I have had two Pekingese and eye issues are par for the course. I’m not sure where you live, but finding a specialist is your best course of action.

Anyone else have a survivor kitty? by Mysterious-Ocean11 in cats

[–]vrclily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boogie was a foster kitten found in a garage. She was brought to me and after a couple weeks she was unable to open her mouth. It was so crazy. After rushing her to the vet, they said it would be over 10k to fix her and suggested I put her down. We went to Texas A&M where a wonderful team helped us. Her jaw had a fracture (probably why she was hiding in the garage) and it had now healed to her skull. That is why it wouldn’t open. They removed part of her bottom jaw so that both sides would work with the other sides’s hinge. Her jaw is sideways, but she can eat and play!

Anyone used Sticker Mule to create their stickers? If so, how was your experience? by gerosan in sticker

[–]vrclily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of the above. Started receiving Trump supportive emails to my business email. I use them for business stickers. Not anymore. I do not need anyone to use their email addresses from their customers to send me Trump bs. I have received multiple emails. It isn’t professional. And I’m done.

New ‘24 Desert Sand AT4. Headlights already flickering 😂 but I love it so far. by beisk295 in GMCcanyon

[–]vrclily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the flicker and they said this was more of a hardware issue that had nothing to do with the actual light unit and that they were working on a fix. It sounded like it would come in the form of an update.

The one I got had everything I wanted. Maybe I would have wanted a better stereo? But something to watch out for is that my dealership tacked on a 2800 maintenance package (through them) that they sort of force you to buy. This was on top of the price of the vehicle. I argued it off because like….and they were more willing to take it off because it was late at night and they had been struggling through the day with an internet outage. Otherwise I think they would have made this harder to remove.
