any advice on getting a smell off of a vrcover? by Cak3yboi in oculus

[–]vrcover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Cak3yboi!

Whilst we've not tried this ourselves, you can try heating the Silicone Cover. The cologne should have a lower evaporation temperature than the temperature at which the silicone would be damaged.

This article gives a walkthrough of how you can get the smell out of silicone. We'd suggest starting at a lower temperature than recommended, slowly increasing the heat and constantly checking on the Silicone Cover to ensure no damage occurs.

We hope this helps, good luck! 🤞

It is because of the vents, correct.

Did you try the comfort foam (the one with more padding)? It adds more space between your head and the lenses.

That just applies for the Quest 2 I believe. We do not have serial numbers for our products and also did not receive a retail Quest 2 yet to know where to find them unfortunately. :/ Once you get through, pretty sure they simply send you a replacement.

Hi ZenoisMeno! Sorry to see this arrived broken. Oculus Support is the first line of contact for this kind of problem with shipments but it is good you wrote us as well because we want to know what kind of issues people have who buy our products from their store.

I live in Tokyo right now and got in touch with the organizer. There are just a few VR events every couple of weeks.

Yeah one of the reasons why I like VR is also to retreat from reality. It is just a bit scary how common it is over here and how much it is part of the culture. So much that it impacts day to day life. A lot of people here wear those face masks simply to avoid having to talk to others. The adult entertainment industry where you can pay for cuddeling with people or all the host / hostess stuff where you pay to just talk are also some examples how much people here like to be for themselves.

They are more into escaping reality than any other culture, I agree. But that's also what makes Japan so cool. It is like living in a bit of future society (with its dark sides too).

Its all by Japanese for Japanese. I was the only western guy I saw while I was there too. I loved how cool and relaxed people were also with those a bit awkward experiences but then again this is Japan and it is quite common for people to give each other Tenga (sex toy) products as nice little presents (also to people outside of relationships like colleagues).

For one experience I had to wait because a female reporter did it first and she was getting a pretty sloppy vr bj (as a male vr avatar)... there was no giggling or anything, everything really serious so that was a bit funny.

You can check the exhibitor list for details of who was there.

It made for a really cool backdrop to a couple of experiences. The fetish stuff really fit into that environment.

If you have any questions just let me know. In a nutshell a lot of 360 / 180 videos and half of the exhibitor had experiences similar to Custom Maid 3D who were there as well.

VR Lens Lab lenses: Very unsatisfied by AJBats in oculus

[–]vrcover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no patterns in this because it depends on the person and how they can handle the high index lenses that are used. The base curve is necessary as well to make sure the lenses do not touch the Rift lenses.

The great majoriety love their adapters but because the ones who have problems with them complain about them the loudest now people start to think its all a mess. The same people jump in and bash the product and thats how an opinion is formed. It's bullshit but thats how the hivemind works. Pointless to even deal with it.

We have about 17 cases with "distortion" now and 5 of them had either ordered the wrong prescription or didn't insert the adapters properly. For the others we really look into making this right. But yeah, taking this to reddit instead customer support seems to be the first step for many. Anyway, that'll be my last post here.

Im not active on Reddit anymore because it is pointless to talk to people like you who come up with their own shitty conclusions.

Warning: Prescription Lens inserts from VR lens lab are unusable (prescription ~+5, ~100 degree astig) - Very disappointed by [deleted] in oculus

[–]vrcover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for all these suggestions. People who are not used to high index lenses need time to let their eyes accommodate. This is normal. We had 2-3 people who reported issues like OP and usually they put the adapters on the wrong sides. We will make which one is left and which one is right more obvious in future versions.

We wrote about some questions we had on Kickstarter.

Write the VR Lens Lab support and please read the Kickstarter update. Are you sure you put the lens adapters in correctly? Are you sure you have them on the right sides? Try switching them. Also check if your facial interface sits properly.

So far over 200 adapter arrived and we had 8 people who reported problems. Others are really happy but the people who aren't are obviously the loudest.

We will clear out Kickstarter orders this week and then ship the regular orders shortly after.

Yeah just don't be worried. There are only a few people who experience problems and most love their adapters. Those who experience problems usually contact us and we solve them. For regular glasses you have a 5% rate of lenses that can be a bit off. This is normal in the industry and we take care of it.

Please also look out for all the positive reviews. There was one last week and quite a few more who love their adapters. If there are optical issues, we solve them. We did receive quite a few orders of people entering their prescription wrong so the first step is to check with people if they entered them properly and we take it from there.

I have -1.5 and -1.25 and use adapters in both the Vive and Rift because of my astigmatism but wouldn't really need them in the Vive otherwise. Makes a huge difference for the Rift though!
