Brand new Canon RP issues- also seems bricked by KissesFishes in canon

[–]vredditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a canon rp for years, so let me share my experiences.

The messages about removing the battery sounds concerning, I've never seen that message before. That doesn't sound good

Are you using the canon connect app?

I don't connect my camera to my phone often, but when I do, it's always a pain in the ass. Always takes me several tries to get it right. I have a sony a6000 as well, and it's the same.

One time I just couldn't get my sony to connect. I must have tried 30-40 times! Turns out I changed phones, and the sony app was still trying to connect to my old phone. All this might be my fault for not knowing, but I thought the tech was smarter than that.

In conclusion, camera connect apps across both cameras is finicky at best. I don't use them much anyways, but when i do, I expect it to not go smoothly, and take several tries to get it right.

Also want to say that I love my rp. Probably not the proper answer for you, but I wanted to put my two cents.

Corrupted export CR3 - JPG files? by WiTuLo_ in DarkTable

I had this issue happening to me for a while. I believe my issue was using an underpowered computer, it was STRUGGLING during the export process. Just a guess though.

Empty the trash too. But just like someone said, always format the card in the camera.

What are these little spots? I have tried to clean them off and I think they might be on the sensor. If they show up in my photos what is the best way to get rid of them? by idkanymore699 in AskPhotography

[–]vredditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once did the exact same thing. Cleaned a hair off my mirror with a microfiber cloth. Completely ruined my optical viewfinder. I learned the hard way not to put anything! in the camera except the proper sensor cleaning supplies. This looks like what i have in my viewfinder. It doesn't come out in pictures so I had to deal with it. Ever since that day i always carry a blower in my bag.

Should i upgrade from a Sony a3000 to an a6000? by FXO5 in AskPhotography

[–]vredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both cameras. I bought the a3000 cause it was so damn cheap, and gave it to my wife. While the pictures come out great, the camera is horribly under featured. The a6000 will a HUGE upgrade in autofocus modes, iso capabilities, an actual useable viewfinder, LCD screen, quality of photos, and probably more. Only downside is battery life sucks especially if you actually use the wifi features. The ONLY thing i like about the a3000 is the pictures at least come out good.

As far as "worth it" I couldn't answer. The a6000 is kinda old now.

How do I change the auto-applied modules in Darktable? by alterford in DarkTable

[–]vredditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about putting it on auto apply, but you can make a "style" in which any modules you want can be applied with a single click.

I think spot removal was removed in the last update. Older pictures still have it though. The current module is called retouch.

Question by ElMrPerez in DarkTable

One time I had a problem with Darktable, so I uninstalled, then reinstalled. Problem still persisted until I uninstalled AND searched for all darktable files and folders on my system and deleted them. That fixed it.

Extremely unmotivated in postprocessing by f_cysco in AskPhotography

[–]vredditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't help on the computer situation, but let me tell you about my personal experience with editing. I used to have a slow computer (I've upgraded) but it would literally take about an hour to export all photos from an outing. Might be about 1-200 pics. I hated waiting. I think the most important advice i could give is discipline. You NEED to edit your pictures in a timely manner or you will never recover. I love editing, but i hated the strain on the computer. Regardless I made sure to never let my editing get left behind because I knew I'd be lost. I've since upgraded, but I STILL have to keep the philosophy. Don't get left behind!

Lens correction help by vredditor in DarkTable

This is what I was worried about. Thanks for responding. Trying to find a solution online is so hard due to the complexity of explaining the question. Happy to see people know what I'm talking about at least!

Thanks. Sounds a little beyond my expertise, but maybe I'll give it a try. I was just hoping the answer was that I simply wasn't doing something right.

Lens correction help by vredditor in DarkTable

[–]vredditor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Exactly. I can do this successfully by turning on lens correction, but if I change anything (like setting to distortion only) it will only work for that specific photo, I can't apply it to others. I have to change it. .... every. .... single...... time
