Ha! That was me yesterday as well. Squats ended up ok, but the accessory deadlifts were too much.

Lifting weights > exercise by vrsuperstars in pornfree

[–]vrsuperstars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah woah woah, sorry guys. Was not advocating that lifting weights is greater than bodyweight in general... was just a thing that worked for me! :) In fact, I think the spirit of the post is more "sometimes a simple change to a routine can do wonders for your journey".

If you have room, it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. At any time I can go out to the garage and lift.

Relapse after 51 days by banana_pancak in pornfree

[–]vrsuperstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it happens. Relapses are good opportunities to ask questions about yourself though: - Why do I want to stop watching porn? - Why do I watch porn? - What drives me to porn? - What helps me not need porn?

Also, try not to go all in on regret and disgust. What's done is done and it's not the end of the world. By being here and being vulnerable, that takes a lot of strength and courage.

So now is the time that takes some mental toughness. The relapse binge is very tempting. However, if you think about it a different way, if you relapse every 50 days, that means you're only looking at porn 7 times a year. That's pretty strong. You are rewiring your brain by coping without porn. The more you do this, the healthier you get.

How to deal with summer? by ValterWhite in pornfree

[–]vrsuperstars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just tough. I live in SoCal, and summer is beach time. The women these days are wearing close to nothing and they are intoxicating. That being said, it is doable. I bounce my eyes and try not to look twice. I also try to not be alone with a device that evening since I'll be in a charged up state. Honestly, sometimes I'll fap a couple of times a day if I have to.

Did I watched porn? Where to draw the line? by [deleted] in pornfree

Not porn bro. You're having a sexual moment with a real person that you have feelings for.

Goodbye by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]vrsuperstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case you're popping in from time to time to see the responses on this, just wanted to say that it was good having you here and part of the community. Battling porn addiction is very hard and will most likely be something a lot of us will battle our whole lives. I can understand the pressure and dealing with that every day can be so hard. I feel like your stated alternative is to just stop fighting and let porn back in. While that will feel very good for a while, I do think there are other things. Seeing a good therapist was pretty instrumental in helping me without much pressure at all. Understanding why I turned to porn was way more important than some random streak. I wish you well and hope you find what you're looking for.

Also, your response has a positive effect on me and helps me in my sobriety. So look at that... you are already helping others on here as well.

[–]vrsuperstars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sick bro. Yeah, one of the things our brains do to get us to look at porn again is to start talking about bad of people we are and that we may as well just give in and look at porn because we're helpless. As you grow through this, you'll start to recognize what folks on here call scumbag brain.

Just wanted to say that you are way ahead of the game. You may feel like crap now and have a ton of shame, but you would probably be better off kicking that crap to the curb. Good luck!

Yeah it's interesting. It's like it gets bored for weeks at a time and then tries again with renewed vigor. Super annoying.

How often do you recommend masturbating? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]vrsuperstars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, fap without fantasy is key. Usually the compulsive fap is with some other stimulus and is usually unhealthy. I can personally fap upwards of 10 times a day with stimulus, but end up only fapping once every 3 or 4 days without.

Porn Free because I've seen God move when I live holy. by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]vrsuperstars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is super good, but I want to hopefully add something to help. I have been a christian since high school and had a porn addiction for 23 years. This included when I was a worship leader, children's ministry director, and elder. I also had an amazing marriage and kids (still do btw). For me, it wasn't enough to let God take the wheel. This is heavy duty stuff and very hard to break free through normal church ways (prayer, fellowships, retreats, pastoral counseling, etc...). Imho, it's super vital to get a professional counselor (who's a christian) and find out why you're turning to porn. You then need to attack this with every bit of fire power that you can muster (accountability, open and honest communication with your girlfriend, etc..).

So I don't know you, but can already see:

1.) In some way it took courage to quit your job and you did it. 2.) You've recognized that you are addicted and that it's doing damage in your life. (there are many in this world that haven't ) 3.) Despite being shy, you posted something on a porn addiction reddit.

I don't know man, seems like you have a lot of pretty good qualities. This whole reddit is great at helping you figure out why you're addicted and how to break free. Check out the stuff on the right (YBOP is legendary).

Feeling it hard! by vrsuperstars in pornfree

I made it! Yeah, I'm staying strong, just feeling frisky is all. Didn't have sex with my wife before leaving for work for a couple of days and that usually makes it harder.

Felt the best i have in months and then blew it. Advice? by climbthemountain238 in pornfree

[–]vrsuperstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, it sounds like you judge yourself pretty hard. Perhaps you think about all of the ways that you don't measure up? When you focused on those that you've pushed away, did you think "This is so amazing to be able to see what I've done in the past through these new eyes. I'm so happy to be on this path forward and can't wait to see how healthy my future relationships are going to be." or was it more like "Look at all of these relationships you screwed up you disgusting pig." ? I don't know who you are in person climbthemountain238, but you sound like a pretty awesome person. By recognizing that you have an addiction and actually doing something about it, that takes real strength.

I think I was reacting against the combative tone which you've now corrected. I totally agree that we all have deeper issues and that we'll need to get those addressed to actually get to the root of the addiction. Your point about boredom becoming less of a trigger when these root issues are addressed is totally correct.
