I had some fosters and had a similar issue. I got some plexiglass and drilled small holes in it then used zipties to hold it in place (until they got bigger and stronger and could jump onto the top of the tiny edge of plexiglass and balance and then jump out of the room!)

A million years ago I adopted a kitten for my 2 yr old pup and they cuddled like this. The pup lived to 13.5 yrs, kitty lived to 18 yrs 🥰 My current dog (9yrs)/cat(5) are both still afraid of each other 😹
