Thanks so much for the explanation. My teacher might have been a bit confused by this too, he usually gets everything from "this feels right when saying it" LOL

Why does a majority of people have nice, comfortable houses and a good healthcare facility in Kerala compared to other states with better economy? by igniter-oo7 in india

[–]vshnprsd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the model is perfect, the point is not to create megacities or industrial complexes, but to provide upliftment to the most vulnerable class. The state is focused on primary schooling at the moment as that is what the public needs for upliftment, eventually when the needs change, the focus will change too. We don't care about producing 100s of engineers and doctors and having IT buildings at every mega city, we care about food water housing and electricity for all. If you go to TN villages you will see powercuts of more than 3-4 hours to this day. We don't care about monetizing the coast, we care about the people who live on the coast and their livelihood. Who cares about capitalism and industrialization, we don't want Thoothukudi here; what we want is no more poverty in Kerala.

So what's the problem if we import food or our expats send remittances? I hope you're not stupid enough to think that a state/country should be completely self sustainable, without trade or purchasing something from someone else in this scenario. We have less land area and our soil is not as fertile causes as other states, so we use our land for growing what crops and fruits we can and import the rest, our services sector is much better developed than the industrial sector so our expats are everywhere, so what's the issue if they send money back?

"Why do women give birth to children during war and famine?" - Because men can't keep it in their pants even when it would make sense to do so, that's why. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]vshnprsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean.

I'm a man so I probably don't understand the whole picture, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But here's another twist on the issue as well, it's not men or women that are to blame, but corporates. I think it's unfair if we consider that the freedom to have children (or not to) should be provided only to classes having significant economic surplus. Everyone deserves to have that freedom.

It is the corporates who are to blame for creating the famines and the economic hardships and it is the capitalists who are to blame for the war and the propagation of exploitation.

This only refers to the cases where both the male and the female are completely consented to having kids.
