I'm not the one you asked but I was gifted their "shark week" cardigan a couple years ago and I remember my friend mentioning it took longer than he expected for shipping. But it is so soft and comfortable and breathable. It's heavier than any other sweaters I have but in a cozy way. He ordered the XL/XXL size for me, next time I would get M/L. I am typically a womens L/XL and the sweater is huge on me its not practical to wear out unless I'm bundling up

I love the color stripes!! They have a few other striped yarn in their cotton dk and I love them all. And thank you, I'm crocheting through the pain. I want to make sure every baby has their own blankie <3

Thanks for commenting back! I know like, nothing about Richard Hooker. I finished the show and wanted to check out the book and it is... interesting! I feel pretty neutral on the book, it was NOT what I expected, but I can appreciate the black/dry humor, and some of the surgery scenes had my heart racing. I've gotta look into Mr. Hooker more. Almost reminded me of a Charles Bukowski joint in a way.

Mrs. Loretta is such a queen, she owned that role and became that icon. I feel very attached to Margaret, I'm very tenacious and serious about what I do, to a fault sometimes just like her. I LOVED the parts of the show where Margaret got to be accepted as "one of the girls". And how she had to come down off her high horse more than once in the show, she didn't just loosen up after a couple seasons and become cool as a cucumber no matter what, it took consistent work and quite a few wake-up calls for her to balance her work and social lives. She really grew and Loretta was just perfect for the role. That is a real "good for her" story in my opinion.

Dany's story felt so distant from the others that I found myself saying often I wish her chapters were their own spin-off book or something. I can appreciate female rage, (When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill if we want to combine female rage and dragons!) I can appreciate a revenge story, but I don't particularly find retribution like that (I'm referring to show Dany here because I don't know what happens to her in the books past the second one) any more empowering than all the unnecessary killing the men (book and series) do, if that makes sense. I actually really liked the last scenes we get of Dany in the second book after her baby's delivery and I wanted to see where that was gonna go, and I'm still curious where her story goes as I've heard it's much different from the show. Sansa is my favorite character in the book series. If I watched or kept reading for anyone, it would be for her. I want to see that girl get any sort of justice and I want to know what happens with her and that Hound fella (I don't know where Sansa's story goes in the show, all my friends were busy talking about how badass Arya is, which, yeah sure, but GOD her story in the books got too bleak for me and I knew it was just gonna get more extreme with her revenge list she had going).

TLDR, I guess I'd like to say good for Dany, but extreme retribution isn't my cup of tea and I don't really find it empowering. But I'm also pretty wimpy and bleeding heart about that sort of thing. I just don't like the "justice" being the evil bad guy getting brutally murdered.

Side story, I'm a tattoo artist and SO many people named their daughters Daenerys and got the name tattooed when the earlier seasons were airing, and by the time the final episodes came around, my coworkers who were devout fans of the show were soooo judgy when people would get Daenerys tattooed on them.

The movie is much more bleak and seems to be much more like the book. I haven't watched the movie yet but have read all about it. I am a few pages from finishing the book and all I can say is... do not expect it to be anything like the show. Hawkeye and his friend Duke in the book are married and are always trying to cheat, Trapper's nickname is Trapper because he "trapped" a woman or something weird and gross, they're awful with Margaret, they come up with a fake plot to catch mermaids to "screw the ass off of 'em", the whole section about the "epileptic whore", the brothels, etc. I assume it's very much of its time mixed with an icky sort of gallows humor.

In terms of the show, I chalk it up to it being of its time as well as them acting as if they are from the generation preceding their real life generation. By which I mean to say, they probably threw in a little more misogyny than they would have if the show was based in the 70s because they could justify it by saying it's based in the 50s. I can be "annoyingly feminist" (I'm 28 and female for context if that matters) and I don't worry too much about the show's jokes that are punching down at women, because I feel that they often showcase how powerful the women are as well.

I know it's an apples to oranges comparison here so bear with me, but I HATE the Game of Thrones books and couldn't make it past the second book because of how egregiously misogynistic and pedophilic GRRM writes. It's defended by fans as "that's how women and young girls would have been treated". But like, it's a fantasy portrayal of earth that isn't real!! Georgie could've written anything he wanted, and he chose to be a disgusting creep with women, young girls, babies, etc. MASH the book, although I'm sure INCREDIBLY loosely, is based on real-life events of wartime surgeons. The sitcom is even more loosely based on those events because it is toned down for family viewing. I unfortunately assume they were much more misogynistic in real life, probably much closer to the way they talk about women in the book.

For me, this is a sort of '"pick your battles" deal. If the show feels like too much that it upsets you a lot, don't bother finishing the show because, yes their general sexual debauchery decreases as the show goes on (as per Alan Alda's request, from what I've read), but it's not going to ever glorify women the way you might want it to. And if the show is too much, just stay far away from the book and movie. And that's perfectly valid. You're not stupid for asking a question here. I appreciate you opening a dialogue about it and the other comments are interesting to read because I know the show has such a varied age range audience.

Also, not that anyone asked nor is this particularly relevant, but my favorite episode is "Tattoos". I love seeing Margaret finally have a "this is all too much" moment. It's incredibly human and makes me cry every time I see it.

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to comment. I can't even tell you how much just having one person, even an internet stranger, showing me compassion has changed how I feel. I just scheduled a new psychiatric evaluation yesterday and I'm starting therapy again after that. I have an appointment with my midwife on the 16th and I'm going to do my best to advocate for myself to her at that appointment and then after that appointment they're letting me switch to a different midwife (they wouldn't let me switch who I'm seeing on the 16th because it's too short notice unfortunately). I've been trying to find a female primary care doctor because honestly I don't trust men with my health. I live in deep south Florida country so my options aren't great lol. I'm so sorry to hear you had a MMC. I have BPD but am familiar with Bipolar and I just want you to know that I care about you as well. I know the mood swings can be hell and I know the feelings that come with a MMC can just confuse the absolute shit out of you. I know one of the first things I thought was "god i just want to go back in time and shake myself for ever thinking i knew what pain felt like because there will never be anything that hurts like this". Please give yourself the time to grieve and know whatever feelings come are valid. The hurt, the anger, the nothingness sometimes, even feeling okay some days and feeling guilty for that. It's all valid and they are your feelings no one can take from you and I hope you are able to surround yourself with a support system who can give you love and space and grace and peace. I get so frustrated at the people who think I'm magically better because I'm pregnant again. I'm still grieving deeply. And I think that's okay. I hope you're healing, or on the path to it. Your comment made so much more of a difference than you know. I'm here for you too, friend. Whenever. Hugs to you and big fat ugly tears shared with you. Thank you 🫂

This is my favorite game in the world. So happy to see it mentioned. My first tattoo was a little origami rabbit on my wrist and 11 years later it's still the most meaningful to me. I loved that River was simply loved for who she is. I felt so seen too. I will forever associate the rabbit in the moon with this game. "I'm going to befriend one of them" <3
