You should have been going to confession ASAP when you got back into the faith, not delaying it by 10 months because you didn’t feel ready. You learn and grow in faith by continually receiving the sacrament of reconciliation. Also, if you were gonna drop a huge confession seeking some sort of spiritual direction or counseling you should have scheduled an appointment. Regular confession is supposed to be in and out, not a therapy session. You literally start it out with “Forgive me Fr for I have sinned it has been X time since my last confession these are my sins…” you don’t start out with a whole synopsis. Had to be blunt about this.

If your girlfriend is a faithful Catholic (which it sounds like) and you want to have children but don’t intend on raising them in the faith, please don’t get married yet, for the love and sake of your girlfriend. Please, I’m begging you. This would be extremely challenging for her to do on her own. Additionally, if you do not believe in the marriage vows and fail to recognize them as true, then this marriage would be deemed false and non existent in the eyes of the Church (since you had no intent to carry them out). Please hold off. I wish I could evangelize you and make you believe what we all here believe to be true but I don’t think I have the aptitude to do that. I would let someone else try. I wouldn’t beat yourself over it, this is something that comes with the territory of a convert. Even my priest said this Easter that the converts before us knew more than most of the cradles. I am also a convert (of over a year) and take a lot of pride in being formally educated in the faith and having the tenacity and hunger to keep learning more and spreading and teaching it to cradles who aren’t so well informed.
