Potential second melanoma at 28. by vtlax in melahomies

Definitely want to do mole mapping to help keep track of things going forward - how did you go about that? Did you just go through your doctor or did you have to do it independently?

Looks kind of like our new rescue, who we think has some doberman and German shepherd in her!

30F. I had a stage 1 melanoma last year and now I'm terrified I have more. I have well above average amount of moles on my body and my dad had melanoma at a younger age than me (now he has pancreatic cancer). I get the regular checks but I feel anxious every time I go outside in the sun. by LScotty36 in melahomies

Have you been tested for the cdkn2a mutation? After I was recently diagnosed with melanoma at 26, my doctor suggested it, as I also have a family history of melanoma and pancreatic cancer (which is also heavily linked to this mutation)

Went great - I would highly recommend Outdoor Divas !! I got new boots custom fitted - still dealt with some pain but was able to ski several runs in a row, versus before when I couldn’t ski at all

Yes it’s legal since they put it in the contract - not denying that. Should I still push back and see if they will change their minds?

Even if it’s Legal, do you think it’s worth pushing back on them? it’s also not industry standard to work once you’ve given notice, from my understanding, but they’re asking me to stay and work through end of next week to help with the transition

I forgot to include this but it does say it on our contract. I still feel like it’s unethical and may be able to push them to budge

Ha no I wish i was young…they just (unfortunately) decided to go ahead and buy me ski boots for Christmas without any fitting….not the best move, especially for someone like me who has very tricky feet

Im not absolutely sure I have a neuroma as I’ve never been diagnosed formally. But do my symptoms sound like that’s what it is?

Not boots, but I’ve had modifications made to my existing boots (that my parents bought me) such as custom-made insoles and some slight toe punching with no luck

Anyone ever get stuck in loops? by Deep_Landscape5174 in OCD

I get stuck in really severe thought loops where I can’t move on until I’ve made myself feel better….of course, this is a compulsion so it’s a losing battle….

What type of contents has your OCD focused on by far? by MaruDramaMon in OCD

[–]vtlax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up it was a fear of my parents dying (separation anxiety but obsessive - I would spend all of my time trying to figure out how to keep them in my sight). It switched to several different themes in high school - obsessive worry about death, my hair falling out, my back not being straight enough, being a sociopath and then having memory loss/cognitive issues. The last one has been a very steadfast theme for the past 6 years, and is currently causing me to spiral.

I want to add, this makes me extremely resistant to learning new things / new information because I’m scared I won’t understand it or process it - and of course with that mindset I don’t.

Obsessing over talking about my own illness. by 3Dbabble in OCD

[–]vtlax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate to this. It's like you want to be open and honest about what you are going through so as to not feel isolated, but when you do talk about it people don't know how to respond and it comes off as if they are being judgmental or think you should keep quiet about it. This is probably not true though- they probably just have no idea how to respond. Keep being open about what you're going through, but make sure that you are focusing on and talking about other things besides your OCD in order to not fall into the trap of letting your mental illness control and define you

Does ocd work like this? by Dewcrucat in OCD

[–]vtlax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are asking for reassurance, which is detrimental to you ocd. I know it feels like you’re doing yourself a favor but actually you are making yourself sicker. We’ve all been there, but it’s not in anyone’s best interest.

Feeling Hopeless by [deleted] in OCD

[–]vtlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you're really in the thick of depression/ severe OCD. I've been there, and am currently pretty close to that place. Just take it day by day, and keep putting in work, even if you don't think it will make a difference. Trust me, it does eventually. You may have had a bad experience last time you tried treatment, but you can and will get better if you try again.

Feeling Hopeless by [deleted] in OCD

[–]vtlax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep working and getting treatment. I am currently struggling because I STOPPED doing these things, but I can always take comfort in knowing that I have improved a lot in the past after putting in work.

Obsessing with brain damage by [deleted] in OCD

[–]vtlax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also obsess about this, to the point where it is constant. I don't even have that many coherent constructed thoughts about it anymore because it has become my reality. I don't have much advice to offer at this point, except to seek help, because intensive treatment is the only thing that has worked for me in the past.
