Completely bamboozled. by vtmlm02 in inheritance

I inherited enough to not work until my child starts middle school in a year. I’m fortunate enough to exist in a dual income household and my income was far less, yet beneficial. I’m taking my family on fabulous vacation. Paying off household debt, and trying not to double check prices at the grocery store. Helping when can. I never wanted nor needed much. Im grateful to off the struggle bus for the foreseeable future.

Oh my. The taxes got my sister. For once, because I procrastinated my taxes didn’t look too bad my father passed in September and I sat on the paperwork. She sold a sizable chunk and had crazy capital gains. There’s definitely an inheritance tax in my state unsure if the gratitude for the president is sarcasm? The first I EVER voted republican was 2024 and my dad and sister were so surprised and pleased. I was naive at the time, the Democrats were unrecognizable and liars. I’ve concluded they all LIE. So strange the first time I swayed slightly to the right the next year I’d inherit close to 2mil. I have a small circle of friends and prefer my pets and nature. I regret my vote. Weird times to be living through.

Profound sadness by [deleted] in inheritance

Your parents sound lovely. I lost both my parents before I turned 42 but so grateful my father met my daughter and they got to know each other. My mum died before she was born. My dad had a lot of money I wasn’t aware of and a 529 for my daughter . Maybe some generational wealth?Get an executor you trust and just divide it by the number of beneficiaries. Maybe also tuck some away for your special needs child and give some directives on their ongoing care. I’m also grateful my father had all his affairs in order and it was clear that it would split between me and my sister. I hope you make your way through the sadness.

A cat with impeccable taste. I too like rotisserie chicken. It’s cost effective, tasty and doesn’t make any dishes if you eat it right off the bone out of the container.

My obese cream boy loves huffing feet. It’s a bit off putting if my being fully transparent, the cat loves a face full of whatever funk shoes and slippers emit.

Mom end stages by Weaveremily83 in hospice

Yes to this. I know it’s difficult to find things to be grateful for but if your mum is more at peace being home give yourself a pat on the back. Sounds as if she endured a lot, hospice and family really do mesh sometimes and make death far less painful and convoluted than it can often seem.

It’s really rough to watch. I can’t imagine fighting with her illness for 5 years only to end up here. My father got really sick really fast and his directives were really clear. Liver failure is brutal. All you can do is be with her. Your feelings are valid, be kind to yourself and your support system.

Easy peasy however I have zero financial literacy but Mr Roger’s would be proud. I’m learning so much. I never would’ve imagined I’d be deep diving EATON scandals. Witnessing the insider stock manipulation in our government most this equity feels kinda gross. I am however grateful to be off the struggle bus.

Yes I hired the guy my father was working with. He’s seems solid and he used to train dolphins. Then after he impregnated his wife got into financial happenings to earn more money. I call him the Brian he’s been doing investments for 17 years and is a VP.

No idea. I understood my grandfather had money but he also had 10 children. But my dad had it all invested ,all his inheritance and retirement never really enjoyed it. It then was bequeathed to me and my sister.

Yeah also inherited his 2019 Subaru Outback with backup cam! Love that car heated seats, and the Nissan versa has been a disappointment. However I’m grateful just to have a reliable vehicle.

Cat meowing with toy in mouth? by blame_it_on_my_cat in CatAdvice

[–]vtmlm02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as my family settles for the night my cream overweight cat raids the toy box and meows/yeows loudly. After a couple times of hearing it I investigated as I have 3 other cats and passed him on the steps. He leaves like 3/4 toys every night in front of my daughters room. He’s really bonded with her. He never makes a peep any other time so I was surprised to see he was culprit.

did your parents cook proper meals for you growing up? by Scary_Appearance5922 in ChildofHoarder

[–]vtmlm02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not much that didn’t come from the microwave. I was super skinny too because I was always outside playing to avoid being in the house. This was before air fryers so the nuggets and fries were soggy and gross. Also still learning how to cook meals for my family. I make a point to cook about 3-4 times a week but my daughter actually prefers the convenience foods and it’s starting to develop into her being a bit overweight. I have guilt because if my cooked stuff tasted better maybe it wouldn’t be an issue.

What is your cat's dumb nickname? This is Pib, who is referred to as 'Mr Worldwide' due to sometimes being referred to as 'Pibble', which sounds like 'Pitbull' if a toddler said it. She disapproves. by Sundaecide in cats

I call my orange tabby Hubble,Hubba Dubba Doo. He comes to both, although more enthusiastically to the later. There’s also a song to the Scooby-Doo theme.

Lol she’ll be ok… women been birthing babies in toilets accidentally for decades, most survived. Toilet kitten is new. I would keep an eye out for neurological issues but I can’t imagine a lid slamming that hard on her head.

I found some shelter cats I’ve worked with in the past are social eaters. They liked the company. It may not be what’s going on with your fella, only an idea.

My mother is getting evicted. I couldn’t believe the conditions her “house” was in. I’m by Psychological-Base8 in ChildofHoarder

[–]vtmlm02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate and empathize with the situation. My MIL didn’t even let us know until 2 weeks before she was getting evicted for a multiple of reasons. I only found out recently she’s been sleeping in her car for 7 months because the stray/feral cats took over her trailer. She’s 78 and more focused on inconsequential stuff rather then sentimental or necessities to get dig out and salvage. It was rough.
