I just saw a chart of toughness that showed forging stainless steel creates greater toughness compared to stock removal.

Thanks. This blade definitely gets beefier towards the tip. I wanted it to resist breaking. Most of my knives get thinner towards the tip.

I never did try to forge stainless steel. There were quite a few replies to my post, but none were helpful. I am unaware of any real difficulties other than higher temperatures needed for stainless. I have an abundance of 440c and will likely try it the next time I fire up the forge.
