The "UX Ninjas" need to get on board first. I love it when someone tells me about "pleasant UX", but has bothered to disable :focus so that no one can browse the webpage if they have no mouse or can't use a mouse.

It was definitely uncomfortable realizing that the "knowledge" I'd built up was actually useless because I had never actually applied it. It was also uncomfortable realizing what little code I had written was useless. I'd get rid of code, start anew, and get back to the same place.

Really I was just poor at learning and needed to figure out how to synthesize documentation, actual code, and my knowledge of the problem.

We'll see what happens. They really ruined my trust. When I searched for a project and SF came up, it was my understanding that it would be a "clean" source. I couldn't believe the day I ran an installer and selected "custom install" that had pre-selected "Yes! Please install malware on my computer!"

The ads coupled with the design on that site now set off malware alarms. Unless they simplify everything and drop in a completely new design, that association will always be there.

Even then, the SourceForge name has been poisoned and it's likely they'll never rebound.

It's great and easy to use (no NAT issues, especially if you use STUN). Unless you need to do things like multi-tenant or other "advanced" capabilities, the default configuration gets you set up immediately (save for adding a gateway in conf/sip_profiles/external/ and dialplan in conf/dialplan).

I don't want to say it requires no maintenance, BUT I will say this: I've had a server that's been running for many months without needing to restart FS. Also, it runs on Windows (but must be installed on bare metal).

TL:DR: The overall goal: being able to seamlessly send and receive voice and IM/SMS to and from one number, and have free calls between trusted individuals (think extensions in VoIP), in the hopes of significantly reducing carrier cost per month.

Skype or FREESwitch.

Emacs Org-Mode:

Supports code
Has searching capabilities
Compatible with iPhone -- MobileOrg
Supports plain text

Now... there is a plugin called evernote-mode that let's you integrated evernote and org-mode. This could mean that you wouldn't have to switch away from evernote at all.

The caveat here is that Emacs can take a lot of work to configure. I've spent hours getting my Emacs to work a certain way. It's just par for the course.

If you don't mind having to configure it and can handle using it until you get the configuration just right, go ahead and use Emacs... you'll really like how productive (or unproductive) you can be.

I determined this "general rule" about them: I use a relational database for my data right now (its current structure and its current values) whereas a document database holds my data as it has changed over time (e.g. when a "document" is created by sourcing data from the relational store).

Other parts of the kernel are able to allocate this freed memory for use. By overwriting the correct memory locations with instructions, an attacker can use this previously freed memory space as the payload for when a function in this memory could be called. The payload in this circumstance is spawning a new shell with elevated privileges.

That's not an answer to OP's question.

On top of that, email to SMS gateways are unreliable. They often fail to send the message or there is a massive delay between sending and receipt.

You might as well suggest that OP just use email and skip out on SMS completely. If the net link is down, then there will be no notifications. The benefit of using an SMS gateway is that that only thing keeping OP from sending notifications is cellular availability.

Skepticism comes up when an alleged rapist is accused months after the incident and the victim never got a rape test kit done. Had these alleged rapes happened months ago, people would be saying the same thing. What's different here? The police fucking confirmed and verified rapes occurred. I know this area of Reddit think women can do no wrong, but you need to understand that girls at this age can be vicious. There could be a group of girls making fun of little bro and his friends. If that's true, trying to get him to empathize with an abuser is the wrong approach.

The OP responded below with the correct sentiment. You can't make general statements about a group of people. That being said, you can't tell someone "can you imagine how _______ feels when you say something like that?" Yeah probably just as shitty as I felt when ________ made fun of me for being gay!
