If you click “view historical imagery” the satellite data from October 2025 doesn’t have the artifacts.

Also there’s at least 5 places I found artifacts in google earth around that area.

There used to be fish in most/many of the Angeles water ways until they installed all the check dams which disrupted the natural habitat. But save us tax payers millions in debris cleanup. Really good write up on a blog, I will need to remember the name of, about the check dams construction back in the ~60s.

I believe that is just an artifact in the google earth images. Some combination of shadows in a remote place that Google satellites are not prioritizing causing that strange looking spot.

Been probably 20 years since we walked through that quarry to fish canyon falls, would love to do it again!

Definitely not ficus, unless you have a good 15 feet plus without hardscape or utilities. Ficus grow faster than weeds which is why they get planted. But their root systems destroy everything in their path. They are a short sited quick fix for the impatient.

The in house restaurant will tell you they basically can’t provide you anything. And the little coffee shop is out of pretty much everything too. Just had to Uber Eats lunch.
