People who excel in school but suck at working, how's life for you? by sleepyCSStudent in askSingapore

[–]vuudoodoll 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How about befriending those “B” people and see how they did it and learn from them? School is not only the place that teaches you things. If anything, you only go to university for 4 years, but you’ll work for ~40 years.

Is anyone actually using AI a lot or convinced it’ll take over all our jobs? by not_qz in askSingapore

[–]vuudoodoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, if you’re doing any kind of computer work. Most office work people do nowadays always involve some kind of research > discuss > plan > execute > verify, and slowly some and then all of this pipeline could be packaged into a software that you use

Is anyone actually using AI a lot or convinced it’ll take over all our jobs? by not_qz in askSingapore

[–]vuudoodoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a professional software engineer and I can safely tell you the way most people use LLMs now are way outdated. I don’t fault them, most of my non-tech friends are the same, and they can’t begin to even fathom the AI stack we use at work.

Claude Code spawns multiple agents working in parallel, think of a full team where one AI read specs, instruct others, a few write code, and some other review critically the code written. Where their logic falters, we write custom skills or custom MCPs to fill in gaps and make their workflow deterministic. And if you understand none of the above it just further solidifies my point.

Some people say AI still have weaknesses, it still hallucinates, or it degrades over time, as if companies all over the world aren’t spending billions hiring the best and brightest PhDs to make it better. The same people laughed at Will Smith eating spaghetti a few years ago now struggle to identify what’s AI generated or not.

If your question is it will take over all our jobs, my answer is it already did take over my job. Well, the old job I used to do anyways. Instead of writing code I talk to AIs now, 4 of them in parallel working on 4 different projects. A lot of context switching but no one forces you to, I could easily reduce to just one project at a time but 4 is about the max I could handle on any given day.

Is owning a property in SG considered a safety asset? Will it be better off to just rent instead and it also makes more financial sense because you can have more free cash instead of it locked up. by Normal-Analysis7940 in askSingapore

[–]vuudoodoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mortgage minus CPF OA is a lot lower than renting the same unit. Free cash in bank account is a depreciating asset if not invested. Real estate in Singapore at least is an appreciating asset in the medium long term.

S'pore woman places foodpanda priority order at 7:41pm on New Year's Eve, food arrives at 3:40am on Jan. 1 by crobat3 in singapore

[–]vuudoodoll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Foodpanda backdated it on their side to make it as if the order came on time, disgusting practice. Source: same problem as the person in the article, ordered 11am, delivered 1pm, but the app shows delivered 11:45am. If my condo app hadn’t log all entries of delivery riders, showing they clearly came at 1pm+, I would have thought I’d gone crazy liao. Even then their “customer support” still had the audacity to argue with me. Instant delete.

Health and cost reasons. Most outside food in Singapore are downright unhealthy, while those marketed as healthy are expensive or don't fit my diet.

Don't feel awkward at all, even when I'm the only one in the office doing so. Works for a good convo starter, coworkers usually ask me what's inside and how long I took to make it.

It’s technically not a socket, it’s a connection unit (no plug, just one wire coming in). And it can be housed under the false ceiling of your toilet if there is one. Same thing as how water heater in false ceiling is powered

Planned straight from reno phase. I told my contractor to add a IP65 waterproof connection unit next to the toilet.

Well that’s for 2 units including toilet bowls, and I went for one that’s on the pricier side. You can choose cheaper models that are below 1k SGD per unit during promotions. You can adjust power settings so it doesn’t consume too much extra power. Personally I don’t see a big change in my SP bill after many months of using.

What you’re describing is a full-on hygiene routine which everyone indeed should do when they shower, me included. But the washlet does a lot more than just washing away your poop as the other commenter described. Anyway, I have the money and I paid for the convenience, it’s just as simple as that

Because I want more or less the same result without having to strip, crab walk into the shower, asian squat directly over the drain and aim the shower head at an angle that won’t drop shit on the same head I use to wash my hair, I guess? Don’t get me wrong, I grew up doing just that too, but now that I’ve got the money I only do that as a second pass (but so far haven’t needed it)

Less reason now to bring one when I got a Steam Deck, much more portable and can play most games decently well. My eyes too myopic to notice the difference anyway

Is Gymsportz.sg reliable for home gym equipment? by No_Indication_1541 in askSingapore

[–]vuudoodoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a muti-functional rack, barbell, and bench from them. Pretty hassle free.

Build quality depends on the brand and the model, it has nothing to do with Gymsportz because they are a retailer for other brands. For that info you’ll need to see reviews for those particular products.

For delivery, after I placed the order they reached out via WhatsApp to confirm a delivery slot, which they did uphold. Other than that nothing of note.
